Maybe now everything is changing Crown Sales will change too, or perhaps we won't even have them any more. There might be seasonal crown store discounts or BOGOF offers. I really hope not but we have no idea what changes there might be and it makes everything feel a bit uncertain at the moment.

Just noticed another, short round of maintenance for the ESO Store and Account System this week:

With the Labor Day holiday on September 7th, could the maintenance portent a belated Crown Sale this weekend to mark the end of summer 2026?

I see the appeal of dropping 60 doritos for 11k crowns, and someone better at math than me may say it's a good deal.
But it's still a lot of money to drop in one go for a wierd horse and extremely specific amount of crowns.

Ufff lots of previews out of that upcoming one other mmo (overwhelmingly positive)...eso is in trouble...might be a good idea to do a sales now before too many people read the preview and decide to no longer invest....

which mmo are you talking about?

And remember that ESO is
- a 12 year old game, people have been playing it for years.
- part of a 32 year old franchise people love and the reason a lot of people play eso
- on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. most mmos are only on pc.

Decades of experience with MMOs show that no MMO kills another MMO.

Only the publisher of said MMOs can kill them.

I was playing UO when DAoC came out, it was going to kill UO. One can still play UO. One can still pllay DAoC because the publisher didn't kill it (I think? about 90% sure is still around).

I was playing FFXI when WoW released, it was going to kill every other MMO. All of them. One can still play FFXI. Other MMOs 'of the era' can still be played too. Because the publishers didn't kill them.

Latest 'killer' was going to be New World. Didn't kill anything however it would still be around if the publisher wouldn't have decided to pull the plug.

Therefore we can make an educated guess on what entity will end ESO's run.

While not exactly a seasonal Crown Sale, it's a sale of sorts. It's roughly a 25% discount over purchasing two 5500 Crown Packs, if you're only after the crowns and don't care about the mount.

Not a good deal. That's basically the regular crown price. Unless you really love the mount, not worth it for the crowns.

Not true. It’s quite a bit better value than the 21k pack, which costs way more, and that’s without even accounting for the mount. But considering this pack might be the reason we didn’t get a proper Crown sale makes it worse for me.

5500 crowns cost $39.99 for US players and €34.99 for EU players.
In order to get 11000 crowns normally you'd need two packs of 5500, which means a total of $79.98 for US players and €69.98 for EU players.

So yeah, it is a discount, but much more advantageous for the Americans for some reason.

My starting point was the 21k crown pack. This costs roughly half of that, and you get roughly half the crowns, so almost like the regular price. Meanwhile it's only 10 quid less than the discounted 21k pack, so I'll hold on until I can get that price again.

Typically when we've had a sale on Crown Packs, there's been a graduated discount applied:

Excluding the value of the mount, the discount is roughly 25%. It's difficult to put a value on the mount itself, since the only equivalent mounts are crate-only offerings that returned with the Wraithtide Crates today.

While I'd much rather have an actual sale on Crown Packs, this package isn't without merit.
