Handing in a large number of writs kicks you from server, probably because of all the unnecessary text popping up on screen every second.

✭Yep, I still get Error 307 Booted From Server when levelling alchemy. It can take a few seconds after leaving the station before it happens, so plenty of time to get to the Master Writ merchant.

k5k✭Try disabling the notifications for whatever add-ons are giving the notifications, I remember doing that a few years back, no issues since!1
