Dying companion costumes

It seems that color is attacked to the costume and not to the toon wearing. If I happen to wear the same costume as my companion we are bound to have the same color settings as of now. That is pretty inconveniant and I think should be changed. My companion should be able to have his/her own color scheme.

Yes, costume dying is tied to the character that dyes them. Different characters can dye the same costume differently but companions are stuck with the same dye used by the character they are traveling with. I agree that dying companion costumes separately would be a nice feature, especially since those of us with ESO+ enjoy unlimited free dying.

My Bosmer's colors are forest green and buckskin. That combo absolutely does not suit her companion, Mirri, so fashion sense precludes them from sharing the same costumes.

But you can dye companion's outfit just as your outfit, at least with ESO+, no?
In Outfit Station you have several tabs for it - by default when you activate Station, your costume tab opens, then you can switch to outfits. And just the same for companions - you can switch between their costumes and outfits and dye it separately as you want

While you can select Companion Costume at the outfit station, it still applies to both the player and the companion. The only difference is whether the player or the companion is modeling during the dye job.

All that really means is you don't have to equip the costume on your character to dye it. The results are the same either way.

In contrast, outfits are a single one per companion shared between all your characters, so this is what I use most of the time.

They can either have different dyes on each of your characters but the costume is shared, or one look for all. There's no middle ground. It's particularly annoying if you want to use different costumes for them with different characters, because you can't have weapons to match because of that single account wide outfit slot

Just checked and well, you're right. Never tried to wear the same costume with companions before, so was under impression that outfits should have separated color schemes since it is an option to do so. Sorry, my bad.

To be fair, even though not everyone understands they meant "dyeing", it's still true that English is just awful in so many different ways. Especially for non-native speakers.

So true! I was once told by an exchange student that one of the things that makes learning English hard is the there are so many words that mean the same thing, like “skillet” and “frying pan.” 🙂

Well to be fair, the OP did use Dying (the act of becoming dead) rather then Dyeing (changing the color of something) in the title lol
