I have bought a shameful amount of crowns not on sale before due to FOMO but it's not a practice I do anymore.
I think the pricing on most crown store items are so insanely marked-up for what they are that the sales don't even lower the cost on many items for the value I think they should be charging for digital cosmetics, but at least the sales help.
Hopefully the sales return since at this point I think many people only get crowns from subbing or a sale, and will hold off on things they would buy with a crown sale but will pass by at full price

The last time this happened was during Quakecon, Aug 5, 2025. Perhaps there is some hope for a Crown Sale yet.
If not tommorow we are not getting sale this month 😑
MidnightDuel wrote: »For the first time in years, there was no August Crown sale in 2026.At this point players can only speculate on the reasons, with the most likely explanation being that with the delay of U51 content, there was nothing new in-game to promote with a Crown Sale during Quakecon or even later in the month.
Originally U51 was slated for a July PTS cycle and a go-live at the end of August. Of course the revised schedule has U51 deferred to the end of September and brings the new High Seas of Tamriel Event (Sept. 30- Oct. 14), the new Nowhere Vault location, and the new Rumors system. If there is going to be another Crown Sale before the end of the year, it seems mostly likely that the sale everyone expected in August to promote U51 content should instead start on Sept 30th.
While this is still player speculation, the Crown Store Showcase—September 2026, which came out today (08/28/2026), gives perceptive players a glimmer of hope. The showcase announced two new items that will be available for the first time for purchase with Crowns:Historically, Crown sales have been accompanied by the introduction of a new crown-only house, which retails for 14,000+ crowns. While we won't know the actual cost of Sheogorad Chateau until it goes on sale on Sept. 30th, we should expect that it will be one of the more expensive crown-only, notable homes. It follows that if there are going to be future discounts on crown packs, this would be an ideal time for a sale to offset the higher cost home and furnishing pack and ensure the new player home is a success.
- NEW! Sheogorad Chateau: September 30, 2026, to October 15, 2026.
- NEW! Sheogorath Shenanigans: September 30, 2026, to October 15, 2026.
In the absence of any official information from ZOS regarding the lack of an August 2026 Crown sale, one can only hope that the other traditions around ESO promotions that have included discounts on Crown Packs will continue in 2026 and beyond. For players who traditionally buy discounted crown packs during sales, keep an eye out for September 30, 2026 as the most likely start of a 3rd quarter promotion and crown sale.

When a house is introduced and tested on the PTS and when it finally goes on sale to players can differ greatly.tomofhyrule wrote: »New Crown-only houses are included in the major patches. Pretty well every patch has brought at least one new house, and the big one tends to release pretty soon after the patch goes live.
Historically, we've seen three (3) crown sales a year: Spring (mid to late April coinciding with the Jubilee festival and the game's anniversary), Summer (early to mid August during Quakecon when the previous chapters were highlighted and new content was being teased at the con) and Winter (typically the week before Christmas and running until just a couple days after the New Year).tomofhyrule wrote: »So yeah, we tended to get Crown Sales soon after each patch... but I'm not buying that the release of the patch is the thing that made them trigger a sale. It's more likely that the sales were based on big real-world events like the winter holiday season and the game's anniversary... but the August one was always there for Quakecon because that kinda became a celebration of Bethesda in the first place. If the suits are telling ZOS that they need to stop offering so many sales, that would likely be the first one to cut.

The only crown sale that regularly occurred near a patch was the August/Quakecon sale, and that was typically two or three weeks before the update, not after.
I’ve wanted to buy the *Fairy Winds* ship for a long time. It’s going to be available soon, but I don’t have enough Crowns for it anymore.
It’s far too expensive for me at the regular Crowns price.
So, I’m not buying it.

This makes sense for an inactive user who may have forgotten they have them because some people have posted in the past about forgetting to turn off Plus and have like thousands of crowns for a game they forgot about. In those cases, it can encourage people to play or pause their sub.
But this really shouldn't be sent to active users.

That's extremely tacky, not gonna lie.
MidnightDuel wrote: »Never seen a marketing message like that before. Wonder what actually triggers a reminder about crowns. Obviously, I have no problem spending crowns and don't need a reminder. I just need a sale sometime soon.
