Can we do something about the ridiculous amount of guild spam?

I was working on my fishing achievements and the same individual posted 5 times over the course of an hour with the exact same guild recruitment message. I am willing to bet that every person who plays can attest that there is a >50% chance that if there is a guild recruitment spam message it will be from one of these guilds. Can you at least give us an option to mute recruitment spam messages at least?

You can mute the player who is doing the messaging, but curtailing the ability to message has already been raised and rejected. I don't like muting players unless they're clearly being irredeemable jerks, but I do sometimes minimize the chat box so I don't have to look at it.

Maybe they could make a specific guild recruitment channel that could be toggled on and off in the main chat tab. But this would require guilds to know advertise in that channel.

It's unfortunate that these guilds force their new recruits to spam zone chat advertising their guild. At least they aren't standing by wayshrines and hitting everyone using the wayshrine with auto invites that have to be declined anymore.

I've responded by forming my own guild and naming it "Spamalot" and made up a guild description to go with it. Something like "Are you tired of not being spammed with guild invites? Join Spamalot and you can spam guild invites all day every day!" ...and you could expand on that if you want.

But seriously, there is no rule against spamming zone chat with guild invites even as annoying as it can be.

Personally, I don't mind guild advertisements. There are a few that are quite amusing and I chuckle when I hear them.

My chat's been quiet since I got Adblock, but sometimes I'm tempted to turn it off so I can sass TGC spammers.

It would be fair if they adjusted the "spam" threshold to have more leeway to warn/action players who over-advertise. Ultimately, while the ads can distract from other conversations, I don't mind guilds advertising as they're a pretty core feature of the game's social side.

Creative and fun guild advertisements will always make me want to join a guild more than just "We are the guild, we have a discord (required) and a trader (10 million daily donation) join"

In Warcraft I would join guilds just because they had funny names, and I did the same thing with my long term guild in ESO

Yeah, it's a bit sad that players have to find a workaround while devs could, I dunno, set an ad-specific chat channel or something like that, but Adblock mod works perfectly fine (so does anti-cyrillic addons btw, sorry but I don't need to see languages that I can't read in my chat, and I can read several languages).

For scammers who try to sell pickup expeditions, "Ignore" is the only solution I know and it's quite effective. I've never get that urge to offer services that the high level players don't need and the low level players can't afford.

I personally don't like their guild advertisements because it feels like the way they advertise is designed to get players to leave other guilds to join their guilds. However what is even more unsettling is when I see people respond in zone chat to the advertisements since the responses are usually very unhinged.
