After the 3-sided Deathmatch week in battlegrounds: Please bring them back.

Hey,

after we just had the spotlight on 3-sided deathmatches in battlegrounds, I can say: I loved it, and I want them back. The 3-sided matches were dynamic and never ended up in a stalemate or one team afk-ing and running out the clock. There was a constant back and forth and some lucky backstabs on the winning teams.

The queues were super short all day -- a sign, that people really loved it.

So this is my little petition to bring back 3-sided battlegrounds (and I wouldn't mind deathmatch-only mode, but that's another topic).

What do you guys think?

Three Sided Battlegrounds are coming back to normal play rotation in Update 51. They have been available for testing during the PTS period.

They are bringing 3-team BGs back, but in the form of 6v6v6 and combined with the queue for the 9v9 2-team BG.

Honestly? They should have just replaced the 4v4 mode with 4v4v4. The 2-team BG modes have been a bust since launch (and ZOS's very fateful showcase stream). The only fun things with 2-team BGs were the powerups in the 8v8 matches and the really cool town maps (that I would prefer to explore and quest in PvE rather than fight in in PvP); everything else with the 2-team format just doesn't work with ESO's balancing, population, and inherent skill gap among players.

But it’s coming as 6v6v6 instead of 4v4v4 and 50% more players makes it completely different. And it’s not even a separate queue, ppl are going to queue for 3 teams then get 2 teams and leave or just wait for it to end

This. 2 teams essentially deleted battlegrounds, there’s barely any opportunity to play in matches

And we are all THRILLED that 3 team is making a comeback. We are less thrilled at the idea of a combined queue where the BG you get is the luck of the draw. Also, why is it necessary to increase three team teams to 6 players? It's my understanding that its necessary to make the teams in each format the same number of players but for the love of God go with 4v4v4 and 6v6. Less players needed means faster queues and nobody anywhere ever asked for or wants 6v6v6. Seriously. Less is more in this case. Thanks!

Can we please not combine the queues? I can confidently say most of the player base prefers 3 sided over 8v8.

Only recently are 2 teams giving the impression of a struggling playlist and that is due to a bug or worse… new variables in matchmaking introduced after MYM maintenance.

Leading the #1 BG guild on Xbox, all we do are Battlegrounds, most in our guild noticed a switch was flipped on our platform as we went from -5 minute queues to -10 minute queues.

Unless of course everyone collectively decided they were fed up with Dragonknights and Werewolves at the same time, which would have been understandable as this is the WORST meta in the history of ESO, there’s no other logical explanation to this.

That said, having been around when 3 teams were permanent, that playlist was entirely unpopular, something about getting third partied really took away the fun of playing. It got so bad we reached -30 minute queues for solo-queue.

True. When we had 3-team BGs as the norm, I was looking forward to the change towards 2-team matches. Oh how wrong I was. :D

    I love it.

I have never seen so many “unwinnable” games won as I have with 4v4, and all it takes is a little flexibility in changing up your strategy.

My preference for those also lean toward Deathmatch, as Objective modes in Battlegrounds always devolve into a rat race or complete ignoring of the objectives entirely.

Then again, I won’t lie and say it’s perfect because it definitely isn’t. I’ve been saying that we need a role-queue for PvP for years, and that need has only grown recently.
