This aggravates me.

All armor the gives smaller discovery area and lowering of stealth cost all stamina based (medium armor)?

The original Nightblades were Magicka but now the way armor is designed and skills that benefit sneaking are all stamina based. Magicka based Nightblades get nothing. Even the one passive that lowers discovery area while sneaking is on the stamina armor line and is based on how many medium armor pieces are being used!!!!!!!!!

We can use the medium (stamina) armor but was lose damage.

Why are they discriminating against magicka nightblades??

So if you take a look at the medium armor skill line, you can see why most sneak armor is medium armor. And no it does not effect your magicka damage as much as you think it does. There is a reason why a lot of magicka builds actually have you using medium armor now. Light armor gives you more resources, but medium gives you more damage. Below is the passives of each so you can see (note this is with all 7 pieces of the same type being worn, and I excluded any defensive bonuses or anything that doesnt effect sneak or magicka damage).

    Medium Armor

    Reduce cost of sneak: 35% + 49% = 84%
    Reduced detection area: 35%
    Increase Crit Damage: 14%
    Increase Spell Damage: 14%
Increase movement speed of Sneak: 21%

    Light Armor

Reduce movement speed penalty of sneak: 35%
    Increase magic recovery: 28%
    Reduced Magicka Cost: 14%
    Increase spell crit rating: 1533
    Spell Penetration: 6573

Yes you lose resources when you go to medium, but if you use magicka enchantments on all your pieces and magicka food, you shouldn't have an issue with resource management. Especially if you're just burst damage sneak attacks. Which you will also really want that 14% crit passive from medium armor.

Remember that hybridization is a thing, so "light armor is for mages and medium is for fighters" is not a thing anymore. Medium armor is designed to be quick and sneaky and have damage bonuses. Light armor is pretty well relegated to healers at this point.

You also can put any enchantments on any armor you want, so it is completely possible to enchant your medium armor to give you increased magicka.

Is this all from the passives?

How did you get the percentages?

The lack of any benefits of detection area reduction is a huge loss with light armor.

So you are saying that I should be using medium armor for all of my characters builds now?

Look at the passives. It should say you get 7% (random number example) PER piece of that armor type equipped. So 7 pieces of 7% is 49% for example. There are reasons to want light armor (if you need more resources) but damage is better with medium armor. Which is why healers like light armor and dps is using medium armor. You get even more usefulness out medium armor as a sneak build. The percentage numbers I posted are the max you get out of it using all skill points and passives.

    Thanks for the feedback.

It just seems weird to use Medium armor on a magicka class.

If you’re a good thief you don’t need to fight. You need stamina to sneak unless you have gear that negates that cost.

Now the real problem is a stamina nightblade using cloak in emergencies when they have little magicka. The latest changes made it more costly.
