I don't think DK and WW are in a good spot with all the power they have been given and therefore not a good place to bring up all the classes. I don't want ESO to be a game of demigods trying to one shot eachother on the split second their innate invincibility drops. I want combat to be grounded and not just a place where everyone has everything. The fact Sor as a non-reworked class is challenging DK and WW should tell you its way better than it should be if we are balancing for all the classes. Since we are not splitting up reworked classes vs non reworked classes and the refreshes are being delayed so long we absolutely should nerf down DK, WW AND sorc while buffing up the other classes to give level playing field for everyone who would like to play their own class.

Once again, I am of the opinion the level that dk and ww is at is unhealthy and should be toned back regardless. If everything was brought up to that level it would just be like removing the ultimate counter and letting everyone use their ults constantly like a spammable

@Luneca @Oblivion_Protocol if you truly feel as though Sorc is so overtuned as to not need streak, go ahead and prove it to us then.

Build a Sorc, no Streak and no clutching on non-class systems/skills (remember ZOS balances the classes (mostly) around in-class, interactions, trade-offs and designs) and prove to everyone that Sorc doesn't need Streak.

Go ahead and prove that shields are enough on their own, speed is more than enough without streak, that the CC on Rune Cage is good enough to not need one on Streak. You guys are the ones here making these claims, so go ahead and back them up with proof for the rest of us to see.

Magsorc using Ball of Lightning morph, so streak without CC.

Lol people crutch on streak on a already OP as hell class and whine when anyone proposes a nerf to anything they are abusing

Bruv where were you when I was saying this in like 4 threads back to back xD I agree but it seems the community would rather have nerfs *shrug* These forums thrive off negativity

And since the meta is nerfs IE downwards balance instead of upwards, a cost increase at base is necessary. I dont care about the damage on it, if people die to that then its ggs, but what annoys most people imo is watching sorcs spam streak from a fight they started and couldnt finish, that should be harder to do.

I dont even care about the ballgroups using it, theres a lot they use that sucks to get caught in but its not getting killed by something that I care about, people should die in pvp.

Lol I think I was in there.. I’m just overall not a big fan of nerfs, feels like when we nerf classes it just puts more power into the fluff like sets and CP etc etc etc.

Random thought… what if streak required a target(?), then it’s a choice of the CC morph compared to the actual escape morph.

Well I dont hate you lol I think its a good idea, either make it a mobility or a cc not both, and you can replace the cc with a knockback too even like dk wings. Would make more sense to me tbh.

Plus sorc already has crystal frags and rune cage

Knockbacks honestly shouldn't exist in PvP at all. They can cause severe desync, especially during lag, where your character can stop responding for several seconds—and in extreme cases, much longer. If you get desynced by a knockback in a laggy fight, you're basically guaranteed to die. People already use abilities like Javelin to intentionally trigger desyncs on other players. Turning Streak into a knockback ability would just give them an extremely mobile, spammable, AoE way to do it.

For Streak specifically, I'd much rather see the CC become blockable, or change it to a root like the other person suggested. A targeted single-target version could also be reasonable, although that still wouldn't provide enough counterplay on its own.

The important thing is that the player being hit needs some actual defensive interaction with the CC. Right now, Streak just connects, and there isn't one.

i dont agree with that, if there were no knockbacks I doubt I'd even be playing this game still, dragon leap is my favorite skill in the game and is the sole reason I always play dk lol, the adrenaline rush of watching a group of people fly away lmao.

Aside from that without knockbacks some people would never die, and its useful to get people out of tricky spots theyre trolling from or standing on to avoid death. If anything pvp needs knockbacks.

Lag notwithstanding. People dying isnt a problem in this game, the opposite is the problem.

As for streak, it being blockable I have no issue with.

I wouldn't have a problem with knockbacks if the game didn't have the desync issues they cause. An AoE knockback on a spammable, highly mobile skill would be an absolute nightmare because people would inevitably use it to troll and intentionally desync other players.

For anyone who doesn't know what desync is: you can get hit by a knockback and continue running around on your screen while none of your skills actually go off. The server still has your character stuck at the location where you were knocked back, so you're essentially soft-locked. You can't properly move or cast abilities, and you're basically stuck until the game corrects your position or you die.

In practice, you usually just die before the game fixes itself. I don't want to see Streak turned into a spammable AoE desync tool.

Believe you me, I hate desync and lag lol, Ive been embarrassed several times recently due to extreme desync, where the only saving grace was it was so obvious i was desycing because my friends said I literally stood still while being wailed on for ten seconds and they thought I crashed xD

But it happens to everyone during primetime especially, Id rather have that and occasionally mald than not have a valuable tool to the game. Pretty much the same as how I'd rather deal with lag and ballgroups than ever play vengeance. Not to go off topic but to show you where my mindsets at, performance issues suck but I dont want to take away from the game because of it.

I think the reason it happens is lag. It only seems to happen when Gray Host is full. Sometimes when it's really laggy, your skills won't go off, probably because the server is dropping actions instead of properly processing them or something.

The server has to update your position when you get knocked back, and my guess is that during heavy lag, the server is dropping the action that updates your position, which causes the server to still think you're CCed even though your client shows you moving around. This has been happening a lot more ever since they changed DK to have a knockback.

My group calls it "rubberbanding." I've reported this to ZoS with video evidence, but thus far they haven't fixed it.

It doesn't happen with stuns. I've never seen this happen with pulls even though they also cause a forced movement of your character. Charms can be rather buggy causing it to take longer than normal to break free, but don't cause "desync". I wish ZoS would just change all the CC in cyrodiil into a stun or fear, which are basically the same thing.

I would fully support a blockable, root, or single target version of Streak.

    This take is wild btw.

The power of DK and WW is exactly what the game needs, subclassing completely destroyed ESO’s combat because of the power it created. They aren’t rolling back subclassing, so in order to make classes relevant again, they have to buff them. Sorc is a competitor because of class masteries, another vehicle to make classes competitive. The reworks are still coming and who knows, they might rework Streak. But to say Sorc needs nerfed now because it’s “powerful” goes against the overall theme. Everything needs brought up to power, because of subclassing.

Also, game speed has grown greatly, mobility is key now and Sorc just happens to have that in their kit.

The game doesn't need more power creep. The developers have already started bringing reworked class power levels down to avoid creating massive imbalances.

Streak just happens to be one of the abilities that has been massively overtuned for a long time, so it's finally getting the scrutiny it deserves.

The fact that an ability has been strong for years doesn't mean it should be exempt from balance changes. If anything, that's more reason to look at it.

Yall don’t get it. Sorry, but you don’t. Demand for nerfs left and right, we go right back into the subclass meta. Which was literally the worst year long meta ESO ever had.

I'd take the subclass meta a million times over the DK meta. It's still going to be the DK meta even after the next patch.

Honestly, I think if Streak were adjusted, the CCs would be in a pretty good place for now, at least. It doesn't need to be some massive overhaul—just bring Streak's CC in line with the counterplay that other CCs have.

If everything was brought up to that level it would just be like removing the ultimate counter and letting everyone use their ults constantly like a spammable

lol well in ESO we are basically demigods with magical abilities…..

The power creep already happened…… the refreshes are closing the gap, same with masteries (in some cases). You say it doesn’t need more power creep, I agree. It needs balanced to the power creep subclassing created. Which is what the refreshes and masteries are supposed to do.

This mean you’re a warden main?

On topic, Streak is currently the best tool to deal with DKs/WWs. Nerfing it is a buff to DKs/WWs. Quite the conundrum I’d say.

I think you do, considering we're all here to have a discussion and justify our positions. I'm not arguing for a mobility nerf to Streak. I'm only asking for the CC to be adjusted so it's not so overtuned.

I don't think you understand my post. I'm talking about skill balance, not pure class balance. I'm not arguing about the overall Sorc class or the subclass meta.

I'm specifically arguing that the CC component of Streak should be brought in line with other CCs so it isn't so overtuned. I'm not asking for a mobility nerf—I think the mobility can remain exactly as it is.

The issue is the CC itself is too strong and lacks meaningful counterplay.

This mean you’re a warden main?

On topic, Streak is currently the best tool to deal with DKs/WWs. Nerfing it is a buff to DKs/WWs. Quite the conundrum I’d say.

Don't worry, with a 20k stam pool and a 3k cost to the glitchy gap closer you can spam streak out of anyway- werewolf won't be a real issue for you if you're competent.

Come to think of it, with 25% taken off the top of their whip, I really doubt a DK is burning through your shield and health bar in one fell swoop either and these specs are both primarily melee specs...

In other words, praise the Elder Sorcs Online!

This just reiterates what I said…

I don’t have access to PTS so I don’t know how WW is going to look next patch, but I wasn’t in favor of nerfing them either.

DK whips will still rock you (which they should), I don’t need the PTS to know that.

Sustain in general should matter for everything. If we’re picking apart Sorc, y’all should be griping about CoE not streak.

The issue is the CC itself is too strong and the lack of meaningful counterplay.

I do understand your post, you’re asking for a nerf to streak. I even commented before with a suggestion. This quote is a response to Wuffy, who stated why streak is so effective against the leading specs in PvP. ie, distance cause they’re both melee specs. Which also answers your question to me about “explaining”. @Wuffy might* have a point about the future state, but that’s the future state, I don’t think it’s healthy to nerf live cause something “could” become more effective.

About the “CC” component of streak, remove that, and you get Ball of Lightning, which is actually more annoying to deal with. Changing it to root/immov instead of CC, will ultimately make it more effective in big fights cause it’s not giving CC immunity, and they already have encase. Caps, we don’t like AoE caps here btw, checks and balances, if you want AoE caps go play Vengeance where they exist but there’s never more than 3 people in there to hit at the same time. Streak is a strong skill, coupled into a class with the strongest masteries, on top of it being a part of the most juiced skill line in the game. You can focus on the “CC” aspect all you want but I really don’t know why, being stunned by streak is not by any means the problem IMO.

If everything was brought up to that level it would just be like removing the ultimate counter and letting everyone use their ults constantly like a spammable

lol well in ESO we are basically demigods with magical abilities…..

You realize most AoE non-ultimate CCs have target caps, right? Streak is one of the very few that bypasses that limitation. I'm not asking for anything unreasonable here—I'm asking for Streak to be brought in line with the limitations that already exist on other CCs.

If roots were really as strong as you're suggesting, people would actually be using Bombard as their go-to CC. They don't. I'm simply asking for Streak's CC to be balanced on its own merits.

Streak has an exceptionally strong CC, even if you completely removed the mobility component. It would still be one of the strongest, if not the strongest, CC skill in the game. The fact that it's attached to one of the best mobility skills only makes the overall package even more overloaded.

Honestly, they should just remove Mines from Dark Magic. Nobody uses that skill, and it would be a perfect opportunity to give Sorc a proper AoE CC that actually has a dedicated role.

Then take the CC component off Streak and replace it with something else. Let Streak be the mobility skill it's already great at being, and give Sorc a separate AoE CC that can be balanced around its CC function.

That would solve the problem without gutting what makes Streak fun or unique.

Yes, both WW fear and DK wings have caps.I would have the exact same complaint about WW Fear if it triggered after using a gap closer that could also be used to immediately escape, or if DK Wings went through block and had a significantly larger radius.

The issue isn't that Streak is a Sorc ability. It's the combination of the CC mechanics and the amount of utility packed into the same skill. I'd make the same argument regardless of which class had it.

You can focus on the “CC” aspect all you want but I really don’t know why, being stunned by streak is not by any means a problem IMO.

Does WW fear have a cap? Or DK wings?

You’re dead focused on going the wrong direction.

I don’t know how long you’ve been playing, but taking a meteor streak combo away from the list of options will likely cause riots in the streets.

What is this, 2018? Who is still using Meteor → Streak as their go-to combo? The health of PvP as a whole is more important than preserving some combo from years ago.

And even if you care about that interaction, making Streak single-target wouldn't necessarily remove it anyway. You could still use a targeted Streak stun to set up Meteor.

So I don't really see why preserving an outdated combo should be a reason to leave Streak's current AoE CC untouched.
