Day/Night shift vs life quality

I have the impression that it is more often dark and night than daytime in Tamriel. And I have to say it hurts my eyes trying to discern things during night time despite already having tuned up brightness.
My eyes would like to see shorter nights and longer daytime. Since Tamriel is not in our solar system it should be acceptable to have a Tamriel situated on a planet with a rotationa axis strongly tilted towards the sun which would shorten the nights during summer times (and since we have eternal summer it is fine).

    I'm the opposite.
I don't like how bright the day is. I prefer the night time in ESO because everything seems clearer to me + abilities give a nice glow.

I've mentioned this before, but I would really like the day/night cycle to be client-side (as weather already is) and for us to have the option to sleep through whichever part of the day we prefer.

Like OP, the nights hurt my eyes. It is not like being in a dark place in the real life, because you are not surrounded by the darkness and your eyes don't adjust to it properly.

I'm pretty sure it's pure coincidence: I used to get a lot of Tamriel night time at times but I also get a lot of Tamriel daytime at other times. Shifts come and go, regardless of my chosen real time of the day to play.
If you're not happy with the amount of darkness/brightness, you can try adjust the gamma settings. It might help you out.

    Cycle Breakdown
Total duration: About 6 hours (360 minutes) per full 24-hour Tamrielic day.
Daytime: Roughly 4 hours (240 minutes).
Nighttime: Roughly 2 hours (120 minutes)

I wonder if it's some issue with the graphic settings? I think this game is very well-lit, I never came across any really dark locations where I couldn't see things yet, not in overland at night, not even inside of dungeons.

PSA: if you are having issues with how dark the night cycle is in ESO, try changing the gamma on your monitor. Gamma changes the brightness curve of your screen; for example, lowering gamma from the standard 2.2 down to 2.0 would brighten up the shadows and mid-tones, while still keeping absolute blacks and whites the same darkness and brightness.

This. Same applies if you think the days are too bright.

As well as the game's settings most monitors and some graphics cards have their own settings (and sometimes allow you to have different presets for each game).

the night is not longer at all. The balance is perfect. I would like some more weather variation though. Way too much of the same rain. It needs storms, heavy rain, light rain etc.

I would do this except low gamma makes the game look super ugly, day or night...

Client-side time settings would be great.

I really get sore eyes from the nights. And I already fiddled with my graphic settings but I don't want to make daylight super bright in order to have decent nights.

So it is difficult to find the right balance.

I'd like to see them add features such as severe weather and natural disasters to shake it up some. Mother Nature could add a wild and interesting aspect to the game.

I don't know if this actually makes a difference on how weather is generated. But logging off in Gardner House - in a subzone where it can't rain - combined with the weather furnishing set to sunny - makes it seem like I see more sun / daytime. Otherwise it feels like it's always either night time or raining/overcast. (maybe tinfoil hat thinking, but it's seems to work)
