Returning player after 4 years — looking for a Stamina class for PvP (BGs + Cyrodiil)

Hi everyone,

I'm coming back to ESO after about a 4-year break and could use some guidance. I currently have a Nightblade, but I'm tempted to start fresh with a new class.

Here's what I'm looking for and what I enjoy, so you get a feel for my playstyle:

- PvP is my main goal — mostly Battlegrounds, but I want to do well in Cyrodiil too. I'll play PvE as well, but PvP comes first.
- I prefer a "Stamina" class and mostly "melee" combat.
- I'd love something that's "not too hard to play but still strong" — I don't need the absolute top meta, just something solid and rewarding for a returning player.
- I actually really enjoy fighting with a shield, though I realize that might lean more toward tanking? Happy to hear whether a shield can work on a DPS/PvP setup.
- I could even picture playing a Sorcerer, if that fits what I'm after.

My questions:
1. Which class would you recommend for this? (And if you'd say just stick with my Nightblade, I'd really appreciate a beginner-friendly build for it.)
2. Which race works best for a stamina melee PvP setup?
3. Which weapons would you suggest?

One more thing: I know the new system lets you mix abilities across classes now, but I think I'd rather not go that mix route — I'd prefer to keep it straightforward with one class's toolkit.

I'm around 450 CP currently on my NB, so still fairly early. Sorry for mixing a lot together here — I just wanted to give you a clear picture of what I enjoy. Any tips would be hugely appreciated!

Thanks in advance. 🙂

For tanks bruiser with a shield dk is definitely the best, it does have multiple short duration buffs you will need to learn to rotate tho.
If you want something simple than Templar is definitely one of the simpler melee specs, you get a lot of long duration buffs and passive effects baked into your kit, it does have significantly lower damage than dk, so there's that.

Not sure what's considered top meta race ATM but imperial/nord is usually my top pick for stam melee, as their bonuses lends themselves for that playstyle.

There is no such thing as a stamina class anymore. A few years ago stam/mag were hybridized, so your weapon damage also increases spell damage equally. You can use all weapon and class skills whether they be magicka or stam.
