Sheogorath's new quest line is amazing! (no spoilers)

Sheogorath's new quest line is amazing! But not for the reason you think. The writing was ok; the house in stormhaven is amazing! (ZOS does such a great job with decorating and creating an immersive ambient!); the characters are amazing! (specially the Khajiit); the gameplay was ok.

Now. The best part. The lore! Wow! (I won't spoil it) That was the best part, by far! I love it that ESO brings so much new lore to the franchise. Epic! Give us more!

It's nice to see such a concise story with such big implications. Well done!

Personally I liked it overall, but was a bit saddened that Haskill did not make an appearance.

No it was not amazing, Sheogorath has been dumbed down to "Annoying Cheese Guy" to the point he is obsessed with it, this is not the Sheogorath we remember from the Shivering Isles.

I'm genuinely curious: What particular new lore are you talking about?

I played the questline yesterday and, despite lore topics coming up (would be weird if not for a story taking place in Tamriel), it's mostly just name dropping, probably for nostalgia reasons, without getting any deeper. "Amulet of Kings! Sotha Sil! Mages Guild! Coldharbor Compact! Shalidor!" - like someone had taken keywords from the Sheogorath lore article on UESP, and a bit of ESO nostalgia, to throw them in randomly in dialogues, but with not much behind it.

If you mean those short ghostly scenes we see near the end of the questline: Those are all taken from older lorebooks, no new info. It's just the first time they show them visualized with npcs.

We already knew that the essence of Lorkhan can be transfered to a new host. We knew that Sheogorath can transfer his divine power to a successor, but now it's clear that those aren't special circumstances. Divine power can be shed and stored on a whim, it can be absorbed without the owner's consent (or death), and if left alone may even form a new god all on its own.

This also corroborates the idea that the eight divines no longer exist as actual beings. It's what remains of their essence that influences the world, and even if an avatar of Akatosh rises to kick some Dagon booty, that has as much to do with the actual leader of the Aedra as Maddie has with Sheogorath

As for Sheo's obsession with cheese: It's totally random and folks in another universe get mad about it. Very on brand.

I found it boring and Sheo being portrayed as nothing but a mindless meme. Never much cared for Sheo, particularly in the "cheese" era. Just stupid.

I'm enjoying it so far, or at least I'm pretending to enjoy Sheogorath's company. I don't want him skipping rope with my entrails.

Forget I said "pretending to enjoy" his company. I'm really having a great time. He's the best company I ever had.

I can't tell if this is sarcastic or not. But, in case it's genuine, OP if you click this button you can mark text within it as a spoiler. This way it is hidden from view if you wanted to highlight a specific aspect without spoiling it for anyone.

I haven't really had a chance to dig into the quest yet but one part that I did find amusing when I was rushing through was finding the items. It gave me a good laugh so I'm hoping that the rest of the quest is equally as good.

This questline was the first in a long while that actually made blurt out an involuntary, and very much out loud, gutteral "Hah!"

It was also generously sprinkled with a variety of smirks, laughs, teehee's, and even a chin to the chest trying to hide an amused chuckle over something I felt guilty over smiling at.

I never believed that Sheo would want to experience life as a mortal, given that he could actually die and wouldn't have any of his power to cause shenanigans. For that reason, I didn't really get into the story, but I enjoyed playing through the questline more than I thought I would.

I enjoyed the TG story more, but I expected that because I'm tired of Sheo. So the fact that I didn't hate the Sheo storyline is saying something.

As far as rewards go, the Sheo questline sucked. 0/10.

10/10 for the dogs playing cards.

It is actually very in character for Sheogorath to have a need to experience things as a mortal. Because, he is mad and... creative/bold enough to do things that other princes wouldn't even dabble into.

But, quest sucked. Predictable 'villain' twist with cheese this and that fetch for the 2/3 of the thing, 1/3 was pretty much just 'aw shucks you just barely missed the bad guy! Do the same thing in other castle to reach the big bad again!'

I've never bought into Sheo being mad. He behaves too rationally most of the time. If he were truly mad, we wouldn't understand him at all. Bizarre colours and landscape, cruelty, and jokes don't equal madness to me, especially in a fantasy world, where essentially anything goes.

Madness is really hard to write because if you do it right, the character isn't understandable at all and therefore nobody will like or sympathize with the character. So we're told he's mad, but he really isn't. He's quirky, cruel, and insufferable, but not insane.

I said he behaves rationally *most of the time*. He sometimes behaves irrationally, but so do we all.

Over the years, the writers have convinced you he's mad. They haven't convinced me. Since the response to art is subjective, there's nothing unusual about that. Neither of us is right...or wrong. Because I'm not convinced, the "I'm going to lose all my power and make myself mortal" thing didn't fly with me. Even if he was mad, he loves his power. He loves lording it over mortals. IMO, he'd never give it up and put himself at the mercy of mortals. So the premise fell flat for me.
