Please ZoS, explain to the masses what the new seasonal content model is.

Before you start, I understand it. I don't need it explained. I want ZoS to put out a post for all the other people that don't get it.

Perusing reddit, (I know, I know, that's my first mistake,) it is absolutely baffling how much misinformation is being spread. All I see is, "That's what Destiny 2 did, and now look at it," and "FOMO this, and FOMO that."

I desperately need ZoS to address this. In layman's terms. Please put out a notice that 90% of the content coming with seasons is not disappearing after the season ends.

This misinformation is hemorrhaging you player base. So many posts of, "well I was going to come back to the game but not if the content is gonna disappear if I don't finish it within a set amount of time."

Please ZoS, I'm on my knees and begging you. Address this. Explain to the masses what is seasonal content!

EDIT: thanks to a friendly comment I realize that this post comes off as me saying ZoS is doing a bad job communicating. This was not my intention. ZoS has done incredibly well with their communication over the past year and I commend them for it. I was just worked up over the ridiculousness on reddit and spilled word vomit before processing the way I was presenting my ask. I'm going to leave my post as is and hope that people read my edit. The problem is not that ZOS is not putting the information out there and it's not that it's presented in terms which the layman cannot understand. The problem is that most folks cannot be bothered to pay attention to announcements when they are made, so they rely on second/third/fourth-hand accounts of those posts. ZOS cannot do anything about that. Unless you're asking that they perpetuate the in-game "why am I being treated like I have the memory of a goldfish and don't have to brain cells to rub together?" by repeating everything in every post.

EDIT to add: 90% of the content is not disappearing when the season ends, btw. About 0% of it is. Stuff like Night Market and the upcoming "High Seas of Tamriel" are the only "content" which goes away after some time, but Night Market is scheduled to return (later rather than sooner based on Nick's recent post) and it was not intended to be a permanent always-on thing anyway. "High Seas of Tamriel" may or may not behave similarly. Any return is unannounced as far as I know, but the original event hasn't even got here, so very hard to lose something that isn't even in the game yet.

Also, I realize now, that my post comes off as a complaint that ZoS is not doing a good enough job communicating, which is not how I meant this to be. I think they're doing a bangup job as far as communication is involved. Compared to past iterations of the team at least.

EDIT: yes 0% is going away. the night market was advertised as temporary with the chance of becoming a permanent feature based on how players felt about it. Also it was guaranteed to return twice so that everyone could get a round with each faction for achievements and such. The way I understood the "High Seas of Tamriel," was that it would be joint the myriad of other events, such as jubilee, witches festival, etc. So while, yes a timed event, it would still come back.

You cannot force players to "read and understand." They will almost always take the path of least resistance, which (for Reddit at least) is repeating the same questions over and over and getting the same sources of (mis)information responding. ZOS does a pretty good job of keeping misinformation off these forums, but they can't very effectively police Reddit and other social media platforms and that should not be their job anyway.

Unfortunately, there are people who just are ignorant. Maybe they’re biased by displeasure about ZOS/the game, maybe they’re biased by fear of the game ending, maybe they’re parroting someone else’s misinformation, etc. etc.

But just like “you can’t make everyone happy”, you can’t make everyone understand. I have seen enough discussions where people have been given direct screenshots of information and/or word-for-word references and continued to dig their heels in.

Edit: oh, and, I get that false assumptions happen and not everyone reads the news, I don’t mean to imply that Everyone who are misinformed are ignorant. But there’s enough for me to have given up trying to explain things.

I guess maybe I just thought presenting the information differently would help, maybe adding to the info graphics with a little "#permanent" to the pictures. Just something so that the people that are getting second hand info could at least reference what's permanent and what's temporary/returning.

I don't think it's really content people are scared is going to disappear, it's the rewards. I missed both the Writhing Wall and Night Market events, so all those rewards and collectibles are probably unobtainable for me until they end up on the Bazaar a few years from now, because I assume when NM comes back it'll be new fresh rewards with some old ones. I don't know whether the NM will have the same "story" as it did the first time, and the Writhing Wall I assume is never coming back considering how it was received.

That's what FOMO is, at least as I would describe it, it's the same reason I log in and do the Tome Challenges, I see a cool mount in the seasonal category, I want to grind for it, because I don't know when it'll be available again, it could be months, it could be years. It's the sort of mounting anxiety of "I should get it while it's here, otherwise, who knows when I can get it again"

Agreed. The issue is tho (in generalized meaning), entire human population.

This issue with population not actually stopping to think, not thinking, not wanting to think, not reading, not understanding, in any terms - it’s mass spread issue across the board for everything. Whether it’s down to ordering, shopping, playing games, working etc.

And I have a feeling with reliance on AI that the whole world seems to desperately be running into, this is only going to get much, much, much worse.

NOTICE: I did say generalized. If every single person would cease to do everything, we wouldn’t be here on forums and I wouldn’t be writing this.

With all this bad news lately people are mostly talking everywhere on Reddit and comment sections about what is not coming to the game anytime soon: new zones, new dungeons, new trial, new class reworks etc. The stuff that matters for a lot of players.

And that is all still correct. They are not vaulting content but they don’t add much either apart from a one hour Sheogorath quests, a new dynamic encounter that probably lasts another 50 seconds or stuff like favours which is a daily 120 second busywork quest. Making old zones free for newer players is nice and handing out some free crates of old stuff is not the kind or content longime existing players get excited over so they are angry, rightfully so.

I read several posts with people specifically saying they weren't going to return to the game if story content was being time gated. Which it isn't.

I haven't gone back to check, but as much as I remember the only thing you miss out on for the Writhing Wall is the "Writhing fortress." Someone correct me if I'm wrong but you can still experience the story without the event. The event itself was a cluster *** and personally you didn't miss out.

While I agree, I'm not complaining about the folks complaining about a lack of content. It's about the content we are getting, going away. Which it's not.

Also we got another thieves guild questline, and while not technically a "new" dungeon we are getting solo dungeons later this year. Rumors are coming. The Nowhere vault. Yeah, it's less than expected because of the layoffs. If that hadn't happened we'd be getting the warden refresh the new trial etc.

But I digress.

As a long time player, we all kind of expected less with the new seasonal model. I don't see free crown crates as something they're trying to do to get players to stay I see it as a peace offering. One I'll gladly accept. As I wait patiently for my Nightblade refresh.

I remember when the new Thieves Guild quest dropped, a lot of people were scared it was time gated because the starter quest in the store had "14 days left" on it. I think it's a combination of people not paying much attention and being generally mad about the state of the game, so they're not thinking logically but emotionally, a lot of the community is angry, disappointed, and it being REDDIT, a lot of people are already negative towards ESO (Just go to the MMORPG sub whenever ESO is brought up, or really any mmo that's not WoW, GW2 or FFXIV)

I think even if ZOS came out and gave us a roadmap to 2040, with everything explained in concise words with bold and underscored font, there will always be a segment of people who will go "Damage control!!!1"

But to your other points, yeah, I don't really mind that I missed WW or the NM, which shouldn't be the case, but like you said, the WW can be done as a quest, and the NM will come back.

The final quest of the original Thieves Guild naturally gives you the new one after finishing up the questline, so I never got it either, but I can see how someone could open the store, see the timer, and be freaked out

Perusing reddit, (I know, I know, that's my first mistake,) it is absolutely baffling how much misinformation is being spread. All I see is, "That's what Destiny 2 did, and now look at it," and "FOMO this, and FOMO that."

I desperately need ZoS to address this. In layman's terms. Please put out a notice that 90% of the content coming with seasons is not disappearing after the season ends.

This misinformation is hemorrhaging you player base. So many posts of, "well I was going to come back to the game but not if the content is gonna disappear if I don't finish it within a set amount of time."

Please ZoS, I'm on my knees and begging you. Address this. Explain to the masses what is seasonal content!

I don't think it's really content people are scared is going to disappear, it's the rewards. I missed both the Writhing Wall and Night Market events, so all those rewards and collectibles are probably unobtainable for me until they end up on the Bazaar a few years from now, because I assume when NM comes back it'll be new fresh rewards with some old ones. I don't know whether the NM will have the same "story" as it did the first time, and the Writhing Wall I assume is never coming back considering how it was received.

That's what FOMO is, at least as I would describe it, it's the same reason I log in and do the Tome Challenges, I see a cool mount in the seasonal category, I want to grind for it, because I don't know when it'll be available again, it could be months, it could be years. It's the sort of mounting anxiety of "I should get it while it's here, otherwise, who knows when I can get it again"

I read several posts with people specifically saying they weren't going to return to the game if story content was being time gated. Which it isn't.

I haven't gone back to check, but as much as I remember the only thing you miss out on for the Writhing Wall is the "Writhing fortress." Someone correct me if I'm wrong but you can still experience the story without the event. The event itself was a cluster *** and personally you didn't miss out.

Also, yes we don't know if the Night Market will have the same "story," but it didnt really have a story. Not in the traditional sense. It didn't really expand upon the lore it only added.

The way it was presented, at least how I interpreted it, was that it would potentially come back with some new features, while still including the original stuff so that anything missed or locked behind the other factions could be earned the next time around.

I remember when the new Thieves Guild quest dropped, a lot of people were scared it was time gated because the starter quest in the store had "14 days left" on it. I think it's a combination of people not paying much attention and being generally mad about the state of the game, so they're not thinking logically but emotionally, a lot of the community is angry, disappointed, and it being REDDIT, a lot of people are already negative towards ESO (Just go to the MMORPG sub whenever ESO is brought up, or really any mmo that's not WoW, GW2 or FFXIV)

I think even if ZOS came out and gave us a roadmap to 2040, with everything explained in concise words with bold and underscored font, there will always be a segment of people who will go "Damage control!!!1"

But to your other points, yeah, I don't really mind that I missed WW or the NM, which shouldn't be the case, but like you said, the WW can be done as a quest, and the NM will come back.

That could also be a me thing. I do this thing where I gotta find the quest giver instead of accepting the quest through the store. So I never even saw the listing with a timer on it. Lol.

Eso has changed drastically so it's natural for many players to resist some of the changes by burying their heads in the sand and not wanting to take in new information. Just my take on human nauture. To call people ignorant is unfair in this situation cos many people dislike change so they refuse to accept it even when it means they are misinformed about those changes.

Most MMO players in my experience are resistant to change, sometimes it's good, sometimes it's bad, but ESO players especially I've noticed. I can only imagine what it would be like if ZOS ever decides to pull the timeline forward and does a WoW Cataclysm and revamps old zones, it would be tremendous.

Tbf though misinformation and ignorance can be particularly bad on Reddit (compared to forums). What starts as human nature spreads and people start to feel validated in their fear/anger. The ESO sub moderation is actually pretty good for Reddit, but it's not their job to fact check their users.
