Class refreshes should be top and only Priority. Pause all other content until 2027 or even 2028

Have you done all the content that there is to do in the game already? it would sting a little I suppose if you had and you were a dk main, but i think the vast majority of players would rather take a year, get a refreshed class, then resume new content. not everyone wants a new zone quest all the time. I like dungeon and trials too, but I enjoy classes far more than any year's worth of content personally

This is like having a new gun with no targets to shoot

I would rather they put out new content and push out classes as they can, they have the masteries for balance

But not if the new content is this sheogorath quirk chungus marvel humor nonsense. Night market was cool, this though is pretty weak.

I mean, I would think the same if I played DK. Just saying.

What? No! 2 years without new content would kill the game. What's the point in all those ability tweaks without it...

No to the suggestion that everything else stops while developers work on class reworks.

I play a sorcerer and I have been an ESO player for 10 years. No new content will mean there is nothing for me to do. After a 2 year break I doubt that I would come back.

The idea that game developers can simply just be cross-trained in "a few weeks" to work on class reworks is truly one of the most staggering takes I've ever seen.

It takes years upon years upon years of passion, education, practice, and hands-on experience to be able to be even proficient at a specialized discipline in game development. Do you think ZOS has the resources to put the majority of their employees through multiple years of retraining and burnout just to have them pump out unusable assets and broken code outside of their expertise? Would you be patient enough to wait for that to happen?

To use your own analogy, a plumber doing major electrical wiring after a two-week crash course is exactly how you get house fires. Not to mention, probably illegal.

Even if you could magically brain-meld the entire studio into combat designers overnight, Brooks's Law still applies. You're putting too many cooks in the kitchen, and you'll find the resulting class reworks incoherent at best.

You also cannot simply just throw artists at the tail end of a pipeline when the underlying combat design isn't even finalized; they'd just be stuck idle or be churning out unusable assets that don't fit the final combat design and art direction.

Demanding ZOS freeze all other content while forcing artists to do combat design work is nothing short of a recipe for disaster.

Goodness gracious, just as I thought I was done with this new Sheogorath quest line, there's more.

I'm one of those in the boat that's done most content that I'm able to do (trifectas and the like just don't interest me as much as systems in other games do). As such, I've mostly done PvP with my latest return.

Seeing balance in the state it is right now, along with my main class potentially getting reworked three years from now is having me ask the rather unfortunate and legitimate question, "What am I playing for?" New content I get through in a pretty short amount of time. Experimental content, while fun, tends to have diminishing returns in terms of the burnout factor.

Where as other games, I feel like I'm actually progressing something. There's investments in the midst of a content drought. Guild Wars 2 and FFXIV do this pretty nicely with legendary/relics respectively. I can't knock those out in a few hours and I actually have to plan things out in the case of Guild Wars 2. I don't know, I've just utterly lost the motivation and drive for the game.

I understand that the layoffs are the culprit. I'm not blaming the team at all. This was a perfect storm of Microsoft's doing. But I also have to acknowledge the writing on the wall that maybe this game is no longer a game for me.

I feel that man. All the best to you

You haven't done a third of the content in the game. Some of us have been playing since beta or even just multiple years and have genuinely completed most content in game. Every trial and dungeon trifecta, every storyline, grand overlord, you name it. If they stopped releasing pve content, stopped releasing new stories, people like me would actually have nothing new (to them) to do. Your experiences are not universal.

I have been playing on console the entire time console existed. I have experienced all content at least on normal. I'm not interested in every achievement.

If there is nothing new to play then I'd just do something else.

May as well quit the game if they decided there is only going to be class refreshes and no major PvE content for the next 2 years. Those asking for this better plan on buying everything in the Crown Store every month if they want the game to continue during that drought.

Well, if you haven't realized it yet, the reworks ARE part of the "content" we were given. Look at how the DK reworked launched, and explain how it makes any sense that only one class was released reworked, if not for trying to go for boom-bust population cycles around rework releases.

It's obvious that was the play. That a massive power would be part of the "content" cycle, just as it has been since the introduction of mythics. Broken mythics in PvP and elsewhere don't exist because ZOS is incapable of balancing or can't read player input, they exist because they bring engagement and increase player numbers.

But the problem with it all is that a single question starts to form: why?

If you're like me and hate grinding for anything and just want to play the game, why exactly should you suffer through a pointless grind that you know is designed to do nothing but attract players that won't even stay before a nerf comes?

Now the question can be expanded to the classes themselves and whether or not you play a reworked one: why play anything else? If I don't enjoy playing what's reworked, why play the game when I am just a sacrificial lamb in PvP and my classes in PvE still suck and lack any depth or dimension beyond one (NB, Templar)?

I honestly don't see how adding more content is more important that actually making it FUN to do, but hey, you guys that want continuous content in whatever form it takes will get what you want at the expense of the game's most critical aspect, combat, being made mediocre and unfun for nearly everyone playing the game.

I've said it before on the forums, but combat and "doing damage" is something you engage with no matter what you do in the game for the most part unless you just sit in a town reselling stuff. It is the largest part of the game since it affects everything you do or will be capable of doing (because the game is designed to be an endless grind).

It's why ZOS made so many nerfs and buffs over the years, and why those changes have had the most profound effect on player population.

So for anyone to be surprised that many would want combat focused on over adding a questline or awful content like Night Market does not surprise me. But it does surprise you. Why?

And one other thing, if the game's combat remains unfun, then player engagement will just drop. No one needs a trial that no one will bother doing. No one needs group content no one will care about because the combat system will tilt too hard towards certain classes. Etc.

ZOS cannot satisfy everyone, but focusing on content no one will actually do because to do it you have to do it in a boring and unfun way seems extremely misguided to me.

Lastly can you prove the link between crown store sales and PvE content you are implying? Thanks. I'm sure everyone wants to know.

100% agree. It should be a top priority. 80-90% of effort and work into classes.

It’s the bread and butter of the game and simply buffing DK and WW to the stratosphere while leaving the rest delayed for years is not on.

The link between crown store sales and lack of new PvE content is simple. If those who don't care about the class refreshes leave the game because they will have nothing new for 2 years, then those who only care about the class refreshes will have to cough up the money to keep the game going to make up for the loss of a sizeable chunk players.

I'm certainly not going to continue to pay money to wait 2 years for new major content when my 3 classes I currently play are working just fine for me.

Like some others said. That is YOUR experience. I play ‘only’ since Blackwood and I have 100 percent quest and map completion since last year. Stickerbook full, all companion keepsakes, all skill lines maxed and subclass lines maxed. And I also play like 20 other games each year.

If you don’t do grind and busywork and focus on the unique content itself, the content is completed fairly ‘quickly’.

So no new real content = no money from me.

And two hours or new quests in decade old zones and favours/dynamic encounters that last 100 seconds per quest to complete is not enough for a whole year, let alone two.

That is also why they are now still focusing on this new ‘mini systems’ like favours, dynamic encounters, rumours, sage vault etc

    Each season they can:
    - make some old DLC free
    - add an old DLC system to the base game (antiquties)
    - add tiny stuff like 1 new dynamic encounter in zone X, a new favour board here and a new rumour there
    - make you do those mini things for 2 weeks to unlock the rewards

And tah dah! You have a big looking roadmap for newer players, but older players almost get nothing.
