Hello,
I have this in my weekly challenges:

Complete 8 Thieves Guild Finder Quests
Claimed: 0/3

The description says:
Complete Finder quests for the Thieves Guild.
Sign up for these unlawful adventures at the
Thieves Guild hideouts in Hew's Bane or
Daggerfall.

I'm doing the required quests, but my counter isn't going up.

    Which quests are you doing?

I’m pretty sure these are the reacquisitions quests only, not heists or tip board. The Daggerfall reacquisitions don’t unlock right away, and those are the ones that can drop the new motif.

Very much agree with @tomofhyrule that you're probably doing the wrong ones. Spencer Rye's board in Hew's Bane is one and Josseline Madier's in Daggerfall is the other. You have to complete "Partners in Crime" to unlock Rye and you have to complete "The Codex Caper" to unlock Madier.

An unintuitive problem for many folks is that Madier is standing by the jobs board (doesn't count) while Kari is by the requisitions board (does count), but you turn in reacquisitions to Madier and turn in jobs to Kari. I'm sure those NPC placement decisions made sense to someone at the time they were made, but they don't make a lick of sense to me. I just live with it and remember that the wrong NPC is the right board.

EDIT: have to walk back part of that. Kari is not in the Daggerfall den unless you have a job to turn in. She's still the right NPC at the wrong board, but the reaquisitions board is not the one that Madier is standing by.

I've completed all three types of quests available in Daguefilante's Lair, as described in the quest description.

I don’t see Rye yet, so I’m going to progress through the story to bring him in.

It’s a shame there aren’t any explanations for how to progress; my game is in French, and we’re really left in the dark when it comes to instructions.

Thanks for the tip :) I’ll come back to give some feedback.

I had the same problem, noticed that none of the dailies were ticking it up, and just rerolled it. Got safeboxes and already finished it.

Rye unlocks after you talk to Zeira following "Partners in Crime". He is sitting a a small table to your right as you enter the den from the cistern entrance (not the entrance outside the walls). He won't have anything to say/do until you complete "Partners in Crime", but as soon as you talk to Zeira and get your skill point, he'll send you to Shark's Tooth Grotto to retrieve the old sailor's pipe. When you come back from doing that, he'll be next to his board outside the cistern entrance. That's the only mission he actually gives you. The others are picked up from the board and then you turn them in to him.

For the Season One Tamriel Tome Weekly Challenge “Complete 8 Thieves Guild Finder Quests”, the only quest that gives credit / progress to this is Spencer Rye’s Reacquisition Quests received from Abah’s Landing.
After completing his initial quest “The Sailor’s Pipe”, the Tip Board next to his spot will offer one of 4 different quests on daily rotation.

Josseline Madier’s Reacquisition Quests obtained in Glenumbra’s Thieves Guild Tip Board do not give credit / progress to thie specific Weekly Challenge, nor do any other daily Thieves Guild quest. They will give credit / progress to the other Glenumbra Thieves Guild daily quest challenges. Whether this is by design or an oversight is unknown, ZOS shall have to clarify on this.

This has been tested and verified by my groups over 2 days. Screenshot below shows progress for 9 credits (8/8 claimed once for 200 Points, and 1 credit in progress). These quests can be shared by other players, so you may ask in Abah’s Landing zone “LF Thrall Cove quest” etc or similar to obtain more than one quest per character per day (to a max of 4 completes per character per day - note same rule applies for sharable daily quests, the same named quest cannot be repeated on the same character on the same day).

    Hope this helps.

The Quest ist totally bogus as you can only do it once per day: but you need it 8 times for 200 tomes… you can’t even finish it once in one week… and I have the stupid quest twice, now. 200 is pretty nice but not at that time scale… anybody at ZOS ever think about these things in advance?

Challenges carry over. You can have 12 active at any one time. You can also do more than 1 a day by having someone share their quest.

Agreed that Madier's is problematic. We'll get PTS patch notes on the 3rd and I expect that this will be among the changes/fixes included, but that doesn't do anyone a lick of good because it will be several weeks more before the Update 51 changes/fixes from PTS make it into the live servers. In the meantime, you have two choices. The first is to proceed with the challenge "as is," which means doing Spencer Rye's reacquisition quest in Hew's Bane 24 times to clear out the entire challenge. The second is to use a reroll to get rid of it. You can't do that if you've claimed the reward for the first completion, but rerolling will otherwise get something else into your challenges.

As for the not thinking about it part, I'll have to leave that to ZOS to answer, but we do know that the challenge will be reduced from 8 per repetition to 1 per repetition with Update 51. This strongly implies that someone at ZOS had an "oops!" moment somewhere along the line.

This is the kind of thing that should be hot fixed immediately or at least taken care of in the first incremental patch.

It could be that it is in the pipeline. We don't find out about incrementals until something shows up in patch notes and I'd be looking for the next incremental early next week. We do know that the repetition reduction is set for Update 51 because ZOS announced that. They'll occasionally say something like "we'll get that into an upcoming incremental," but that's more the exception than the rule.

Incrementals, like all patches, need to have the 2 week console certification cycle. That means that if something is found after the patch is submitted, it won’t be able to make it in.

The odd part is that we used to get incrementals basically every two weeks, and now it seems like they only drop once a month, if that. With the fact that all of these bugs were found and already slated for U51, that suggests they missed the certification cycle for the last incremental, but also that there isn’t a planned incremental between last week’s incremental and U51’s drop at the end of September (which looks like it’ll even be delayed an extra week due to the other PTS delay).
That would make sense to have no patches from July 20 through Aug 31 if U51 dropped on the original date. But now that U51 is likely coming on Sept 28, that means we have a whole month that there will be no incremental patch and these bugs that are just sitting there.
