In Everquest you have the Everquest chick.
Guild Wars 2, you have Rytlock Brimstone.
Elder Scrolls Online should do living story and have main characters and promote them, because comic cons are one of the best places to advertise. Being unable to advertise at all is pretty bad.
You can do paid advertising as in get a booth.
Unpaid advertising aka PR, fans who dress up as characters... Appear in social media. Appear on fanbase sites.
But if there is no unique characters you are unable to do anything effectively.1 -

The practice of closing threads just because they're old, even if they're still hot topics and relevant today is not a good way to manage things.5 -

ESO used to be at PAX East and PAX West, as well as QuakeCon.
After the big 10th Anniversary Event in Amsterdam in 2024, the 10th Anniversary Event that was supposed to follow in the US got cancelled.
Given the recent news about Microsoft slashing jobs at ZOS (and indeed, the jobs that were slashed a year ago), it is very unlikely that there will ever be official ZOS events any time soon.
