Well, I have lived it. In fact I have lived it and see the negative effects in 5 separate neighbourhoods from 4 states and 1 different country.

The results were always the same even though the people were compltely unrelated.

I have also seen what happens to games and design studios that are no different than ZOS. I lived it, I was part of it. And I have seen this multiple times, again, different people in different areas completly unrelated. Same terrible outcome.

Did hand-wringing and doom-saying change anything? If yes, then continue and hope for a better outcome. If not, then it's time and energy being wasted on an inevitability. I get that people are upset, but does being upset change anything? That's the real question. Thus far, the answer has been "no" aside from shifting timelines. Shifting timelines is a patience problem, not an outcomes problem.

This is a forum where people are here to discuss the game. This is probably the biggest topic surrounding the game at the moment - it's natural people with different opinions have different views and ways of processing it.

I'm not really sure what trying to regulate the thoughts and feelings of other posters is supposed to be accomplishing either.

Yes in fact it did. It allowed real humans to make better future plans for their livelihoods.

In this case, it would be prudent for ALL players (unless you are independently wealthy and could in fact fund zos yourself), to hold on their spending, to keep it light. Keep those subs, but I would not be blowing hundreds in the crown store.

I spent 700+ in Landmark the game (the old SOE developer) and it was shut down 8 months later. Why, because I actually listened to the "postive" posters contrary to my posts that the game was going to fail. EVERY SINGLE PREDICTION I made about the game came true (not suggesting this is the case here, but I am talking about listening ot that inner voice), I made friends who were once enemies because they realized I was just trying to help them all along. They saw it in the end. That is all I am doing here.

Hope/Cope are going to get you people to waste a lot of money. Take a dose of skepticism, marry it to what we have seen offered from the past couple of years and think critically.

Regarding the workplace, yes explaining to folks who paid less attention to what was really going on, yes it allowed many of them to move on and thrive elsewhere.

What you all see as "doom posting" or "being negative" is in reality just trying to get you to think more critically for your own self preservation.

I think a lot of us who have been gaming a while have lost money to games we can no longer access.

I spent a lot on Marvel Heroes (the online ARPG) and TERA and both vanished into thin air. Because of these kinds of experiences, news like this can cause apprehension.

Sharing this signals that we need more communication - which on a broad level is starting only now, but still isn't clear enough to many.

So the people we lost had the titles Studio Head, Executive Producer, Game Director and Production Director. Josh Henderson has been Head of Business Operations before, and according to the article that I read, another Game Director will assist him.

As a non-native English speaker I'm wondering: What do these different titles mean? I mean: What is a person in those positions doing and how do they differ?

For example, I'm wondering how much "Studio Head" and "Head of Business Operations" differ.

    To clear things up...

Titles really dont matter all that much. They tend to operate as short descriptions of what role you play in the company. But on a strategic level when it comes to management they blend and dont really provide all that much. For example: executive Studio director and President of Studio Operations can basically be interchangeable in some cases.

The job descriptions and org charts tell.you more than anything about who is in charge and what their role is.

Exactly. This is what I was telling my wife tonight. We were talking about how much money we spent on Landmark, New World and ESO. The downer is that unlike days of old, we can no longer play games we loved and paid for. "Renting" games is getting old.

Going forward we are not even going to entertain playing a game with a cash shop. I don't mind a sub, I have no issues helping to pay for future development, server costs and making sure the devs can feed their families, but we dont like games that funnel us to cash shops ON TOP of a sub. We recently quit wow becasue of their heavihandeness with monetization for their housing. Mind you, I have played that game, always subbed since 2004 and have NEVER had an issue paying to play, but their greed is getting out of hand. Been there, done that with ESO, so nope. We have moved on.

    Funny fact......

When I started playing ESO in Beta, I was playing DDO(Dungeons and Dragons Online) which at that time had very negative forums just like these can be!

The game was either "Dying" or "Going into maintenance mode"

Guess what? 12 years later it is still going and they are still adding content.

I won't give up on ESO until we hear from the new team, I believe the way their response is framed will tell us a lot.
