Could be a minor fun quest though, highlighting the gap in the architecture.

Hear me out.

Recently I visited the Lava Tunnel in Iceland, and there's a walkway built over the top of the feature to allow visitors to explore the tunnel.

We were told by our guide that a young couple lost their engagement ring, when the man proposing dropped the ring and it fell into the tunnel through a gap in the gantry.

So this Wayshrine gap...

I mean, it could be a simple programming fix... Or a feature with a small quest helping a distraught fiancé out, by crafting the couple a new ring, and then petitioning the Blue Palace to fix the Wayshrine foundation...

Just a thought...
