Are nowhere keys even real?

It hasn't dropped for me on a character that is progressing through the new questline. I don't know if you have to finish it for it to drop.

I got one nowhere key from the Glenumbra dynamic encounter and the character it dropped on has not done the new TG quest. So far no gem though after 26 encounters.

I finally got one today from a thieves trove in Auridon.. With this rate I will be able to visit Nowhere Vault once a month.

Not sure if this has been noted before, but I got a planar key from the Freerunner's quest in Glenumbra.

First one on this account after umpteen safeboxes/treasure maps/troves/dynamic encounters/whathaveyou (already had unlocked the 'Total Favor-ite' and 'Folk Hero' achivements a couple of days ago so more than 30 DEs/Freerunner's, who knows how many of the other potential sources, not me anyway).

EDIT: I'm on a roll today?

EDIT 2: OK I don't know what's going on here...

EDIT 3: This is from an account that didn't have 'Total Favor-ite' (got it after handing in the 2nd quest). However as the previous account I received the keys when handing in the 10th favour quest of each NPC (Urcelmo/Holgun/Arabelle).

I haven't found any either - and I've finished both the original Thieves Guild questline, and the new one.
I can't find the other two parts for the house either, come to think of it.

Honestly bored of looking.

Day 4 (or 5?) Still haven't had a single key even from doing 10 favours which is allegedly supposed to reward one. Tried a different account, didn't get one there either. Pretty sure they're not dropping from safe boxes because I've opened almost 100 now. Got the achievement for 30 dynamics, nothing from those. Used a load of treasure maps, looted the few thieves troves that I can find and about to throw my toys out of the pram

It is the 10th freerunner quest from the same quest board. I have been doing them each day, and I got a key from each board quest today.

10 and 20 favors competed for each of the three should give you a planar key (so six total). idk if it's by account or character. i got three today after finishing 10 favors per on my main.

And I cheesed the game by putting the keys into the bank, removing them, putting them back again and so on.
Funny enough, this sometimes counted as "2 keys found", sometimes it added only 1.
Morally, it is fair to exploit the bug. About 50 encounters, quest line finished - no gem, no key (other than the 3 from daily favors. Which are still far away from the 10 needed for the vault - aka *20* (for 1, and 10 for the other two) more days of doing daily favors.

I finally got one from doing the 10th favour for the battlereeve. I still haven't seen any out in the wild.
