Please tone down the NPCs near the Freerunner's Post

"You've a hunger, friend. *SNIIIIIIF* I smell it on you."

Every time I get anywhere near the Freerunner's Post in Stonefalls and Glenumbra, there's an NPC nearby saying this. It's driving me nuts, specially since I have to hear her say this at least 4 times a day, with that annoyingly loud and wet SNIIIIIIIIF. It's so annoying that I've started muting the game whenever I get near the posts. The khajiit one in Auridon talks just as often, but at least he doesn't sniff loudly at you.

So please, I'm asking you to tone down the frequency with which they talk to you, or at least make them not say that if you're already a werewolf.

Yup. Same for me. My husband ended up muting the game for me as I went downstairs to grab a snack while standing at skywatch wayshrine and he said he was tired of hearing strange commentary followed up by excessive sniffing.

The voice hasn’t bothered me other than not knowing where it comes from!? It’s definitely within a radius of the freerunner boards but there’s nobody visible.

I think the one in Aldcroft is standing on a raised platform in between two warehouses or something. It's completely unreasonable that I'd be able to hear her from the freerunner board...

That's the odd thing, they're really far away and shouldn't be able to be heard till you get close to them. The one in Aldcroft is behind the big building housing the sick, and the one in Skywatch is all the way over on the other side of the rocks.

The one in Ebonheart is standing beside a house to the left, if you are facing the freerunner board.

Agreed, the voice range is too far. I realize they (the devs) are probably trying to draw attention to the new quest givers for werewolf, but it's too loud and from too far away. The "falloff" range should be half of what it is.

Side note, I feel the same way about the bards. And worse yet, their volume control is under "effects", not "music" or "dialog". Cause that makes sense?!

You don't have to stand around. I start hearing it as I'm approaching the board.

As mentioned, quest acceptance doesn't shut them up. At least not in Stonefalls for me.

Every board, from like a mile away, multiple times. Skywatch, for example, hear it coming over the bridge from, then hear it again when you're at the board.

Please do something about this yeah. Doing the freerunner in Aldcroft today and going from the wayshrine to the board and back she literally started speaking over herself somehow while I was there.

It's unrelated to the boards. The boards just happen to be unfortunately placed well within the trigger range for these NPCs to deliver their lines. And since people go to the boards every day to get their Freerunner quests, a lot more people are hearing them now than when the NPCs were first put in.

These NPCs also have blue quest marks like they're daily quests, but they're a quest to gain a transformation curse. Which is misleading.

They're not as loud as some other talking NPCs because they're talking in a low voice, supposedly illicitly. But they're in a way more annoying because the trigger as others say start from far away, and they deliver their lines constantly. If you move away and come back, their lines trigger again. And again and again.

Oh these are for the vamp/wolf shrines? I had no idea lol. That’s wild. I recognized it being something new but since i knew I’d done every other quest I couldn’t fathom where it was coming from.

The NPCs at fault here are Leane Luseph (WW quest starter), and Zalig (Vamp quest starter).
    pnqqpupbd5gf.jpeg
Zalig: “You there. You thirst for something more, no? Speak with Zalig.”
Leane: “You've a hunger, friend. I smell it on you. But I know how to fill that void.”

There are a number of problems with their voiceline autotrigger radius, range, elevation, shape and direction. I will try to explain whats happening based on observations on PS-NA.

    Location: Skywatch, Auridon

Zaliq: west of crafting area, backed against a solid rock cliff. Facing East, faced away from the Freerunner Post Board and Skywatch Wayshrine.

Zalig’s voicelines triggers upon players entering his omni-directional radius of 105m. This radius ignores all line of sight and can penetrate the solid rock cliff behind him. This means players landing at Skyreach Wayshrine are fine, but any player approaching the Freerunner Post Board or entering Skywatch will have his voiceline triggered.
    sqpx0dhsds59.jpeg
Fix Zaliq: reduce his radius to 20m, triggered only upon direct line of sight with players.

Leane Luseph: near staircase west of Skyreach Manor. Voiceline has inconsistent triggers. Unable to determine what the dialogue radius / range is, it appears that other nearby NPC’s sound effect / voicelines interfere and (thankfully) mute her most of the time.

Fix Leane: no need. She’s quiet. Good.

    Ebonhart, Stonefalls

Leane Luseph: outside the building next to the Freerunner Post Board. Her voicelines have a 30 m conal trigger range pointed towards the Board. It triggers everytime a player enters her range - covering the space immediately in front of the Board. With the very specific directional + range trigger, this feels like intentional design. Please feedback to the dev to avoid such Stuga-esque (Stug-ish?) design. Remember that you want to retain players, not drive them away.
    md1m0dp7nwah.jpeg
Fix Leane: Suggest to either reduce her voiceline trigger radius to 20m (at cooking fire past the Board - see above example), and/or move her away from high foot traffic routes, eg the corner outside Tribunal Temple.

    Zalig is in Kragenmoor, Stonefalls.
Zalig’s voiceline has an omni-directional 105-115m trigger radius. It covers the wayshrine so any player porting in will immediately trigger the voiceline, despite him standing 85m away, behind a building faced away from the wayshrine. When within his radius, his dialogue does not trigger again, so players actually wanting to find him naturally can never do so as he stays silent. The voiceline triggers again when leaving and re-entering his 105m radius.
    q49chifscm61.jpeg
Fix Zaliq: reduce his radius to 20m, triggered only upon direct line of sight with players.

    Aldcroft, Glenumbra

Leane Luseph: behind building near dock section, faced AWAY from the wayshrine and Freerunner Post Board. She has a 105-115 m omni-directional voiceline trigger radius. Aldcroft wayshrine is 144m away from her so any player porting in will not immediately trigger voiceline. However the Board is just 91m away from her, so any player heading towards the board is guaranteed to trigger her voiceline.
    bre6di8d2el8.jpeg

Fix Leane: reduce her radius to 20m, triggered only upon direct line of sight with players.

Zalig: at Crosswych, Glenumbra. standing north of crafting area, facing south east. Has a 20 m conal trigger, activated only when player enters the edge of the cone, approaching from East or South. As the trigger is conal, players approaching him from West (behind him) will not trigger his voiceline.

Fix Zalig: no need. This demonstrates that correct design was already implemented and can be applied to NPCs. Whatever was done here, apply it for all copies of both Leane and Zalig.

@ZOS_Kevin can you please send this feedback up. Thank you.

Its the multiple times in the short period of time I'm approaching or standing at the board that bothers me the most. Zalig in Skywatch barely takes a breath between deliveries if you enter from inside Skywatch (I typically port to my Barbed Hook house instead of the wayshrine.) Way worse than Stuga ever was.

That and my character is already a WW, Leane, so stop sniffing her.

Weirdly, I only hear Leane when picking up/turning in the quest in Ebonheart, nowhere else, and the character is a vampire already, so she can't do anything for them anyway.

The first day I did the Favours I had it bug out and heard her repeat the line another 5 times, maybe once every 2 or 3 minutes, even after I had ported twice to different places (one of which was Vulkhel Guard, where I walked to the dynamic encounter, so definitely not somewhere else she would be, I can't recall the other one). I think that was actually the first time I'd ever heard it, too, so it was very off-putting!

I do generally hate lines that play every time you go anywhere near an NPC, but some are worse than others, and this one definitely makes that list. I avoided the middle door to exit the tree at Elden Root for MONTHS (while doing my crafting writs there every day!) to avoid hearing about those dang dragons before finding out it would stop when the Northern Elsweyr quests were done. At least doing those quests was an option, but being a vampire already, this is just annoying.

Agreed, I will eventually stop doing these favors and the problem will go away for me, but it is annoying. Please also fix the related bug where bards and musical emotes from other players have a too wide radius and drown out the game music completely.
