One negative thing about eso advertising

Sometimes you'll get ads and it's for a thing coming in the future, idk why eso does this but they need to stop.

It's one thing when you're saying hey we're working on this on this but sometimes you'll get full blown ads about certain features and then you look it up and it comes out like a month later.

Best wishes to the eso team, love the game, also get someone on TikTok please

Like currently there's an AD that shows the thieves guild but there's also an ad that shows still the high seas... something that doesn't come until September 30th... that's like basically 3 months.

Stop doing this man.

This is the thieves guild update video advertised a whole month before the update.

For comparison your competitors are doing similar videos a single week before the update coming.

These ads kinda feels like lame mobile game ads to me. The one I'm especially mad about is the one advertising the Freerunner system - like those 2000s primitive quests would deserve any advertising at all.

Yeah on launch day of the thieves guild people in zone chat were also asking where the trial was etc.

Most games announce a season and drop all the season day 1. Some big games like call of duty have always a 'season reloaded' where they drop the other 20 percent of content on the roadmap. But it is al clearly labelled when what comes out in 1 roadmap they release right before a season starts.

OP, that's because the video you linked wasn't an ad. It was the trailer shown at the XBOX Showcase.

EDIT: btw, nothing wrong with this. I am happy they showcase the game at the XBOX yearly event. Actually I am sad last time we got it represented at The Game Awards was in 2019 to announce the return to Skyrim with Greymoor.

Isn't it normal to advertise things before they happen? Especially for a limited time event like the High Seas one, it would be useless to start the advertising when the event starts because by the time word gets out to people who aren't already active in game it would be almost over.

They wouldn't say it directly but they might also want to counter the rumours that after the mess Microsoft made of things the game is in maintenance mode or even being shut down, by advertising that there's not only new stuff now but an on-going schedule of new releases.

If it’s circling TikTok, it’s not official. ESO doesn’t have (or at the very least, doesn’t promote) a TikTok account.

The only thing we got on the High Seas event was the May developer stream where they talked about how it would go, and it was very clear then that it was not coming until September. The point of the dev streams is to show off what the devs were working on so interested parties could see things beforehand.

The High Seas event is part of U51, so we’ll not even see that until it finally goes on PTS in two weeks.

My only gripe about the advertisements is the trailers are laaaaame since they stopped the cinematic ones. They even had non cinematics that were still "tes" and gritty like the vampire/werewolf one for Greymoor. Not the lyris titanborn one, obviously that was cool too.

The "You're welcome here" one and the thieves guild ones feel especially not tes. No grit, no danger, it feels like a disney themepark rather than "The Arena". This needs to stop.

It is embarrassing.
