Do you dress up for events and/or quests?

For the Thieves Guild's return, I decided to go with an OG Thieves Guild look. It was nostalgic and fun. But, it got me wondering, how many others wear special looks just for events?

Also feel free to share your looks for quests and/or events, past or present!

I never dress up for quests, but I did craft the sets to make sneaking easier. I'm a pragmatic person. If it helps me, I'll wear it.

I change the looks of my characters infrequently. Some are in outfits I gave them just after creating them. For example I have a guy that looks like a Moth Priest. He hasn't changed at all.

I sometimes would create outfits based on areas my characters will be going to and spending some time in, like a warmer looking outfit for a snowy area, etc. I’ve been planning to re-create those now that we have so many outfit slots available but I’ve not gotten around to it yet.

It mostly depends. I'll usually dress up at least a couple of characters for stuff like Jesters, Witches, New Life, and such.

I really like Hollowjack for the Halloween vibe. My crafter knows all the chapters and anyone can use any of it at an Outfit station, but I'm not so sure about other characters. I stuck my Arcanist into Frostcaster for New Life last year and haven't removed it. Since it's July now, I'm not sure if that counts as "dressing up" or "lazy." But I haven't done anything special for the Thieves Guild stuff and don't have any plans to.
I'm fresh out of outrage, but I could muster up some amused annoyance if required.

My main character has multiple outfits that are fitting for a thief.
But she wore her knight outfit and used blacksmith personality during the first new Thieves Guild quest. Chainmail, a hammer, and heavy boots are technically not the best for sneaking ♥

    - During Heart's Week 2026 i wore the Summerset Gala Wedding Gown costume, it was new and it was fitting for the event.
    - For New Life Festivals i often wear a warm winter costume or outfit. Such as the Evergreen style or the New Life Winter Storm Robes costume.
    - For Witches Festivals i often wear a related costume or outfit, like the Negligee of the Coven Shrike costume with the Witch's Infernal Hat.

    currently her outfits are:
(spoiler tagged for lots of images)
    1. Greenie Florahart.

I think it adds a degree of immersion to playing so I always try to dress up my character, maybe not for the event or quests, but at least for the zone. So questing through High Rock I might wear something green and brown/black, in Hammerfell I wear browns and dull yellow, now in Wrothgar I'm trying to wear motifs that have fur or look like they're more winter-warmth appropriate.

This goes for hairstyles and face paint as well, I usually rock the new Anu eyes because they look amazing with a mask on, but for hair, if I'm out doing delves and fighting I might change it to something more wild or disheveled, when I'm in town I might change it to the slicked back braids from the recent bazaar, really depends on if I remember to change it.

Though I tend to have 1-2 main appearance, I change my stuff mostly for:
    • Collecting survey materials -> blacksmith costume
    • Doing guild stuff -> guild costume
    • Going on a cold place -> wear a fur hat

Other than that, it really depends on the of social event or type of party I'm participating.

I spend far too much time at the outfit station, I tend to dress up fornevents but also change outfits to match environments (still working through the zone stories), or just change on a whim if I get bored of an outfit.
Currently running this for the event, while I'm doing the sneaking about in that spec anyway.

Yes and no. It's limited to the amount of outfit slots I have. They are cost prohibitive at $15.00 per character per slot.
I normally run a fighting outfit, an intown/in house outfit, a riding outfit. I'd have to purchase more slots to allow for event type outfits.

    I have 20 characters.
Free for first slot per character.
300 USD for 1 additional slot per character
600 USD for 2 additional slots per character
900 USD for 3 additional slots per character
1200 USD for 4 additional slots per character
1500 USD for 5 additional slots per character
1800 USD for 6 additional slots per character
2100 USD for 7 additional slots per character
2400 USD for 8 additional slots per character
2700 USD for 9 additional slots per character

As you can see the cost is extremely high. I'd rather put that money into something tangible. For example I have a Saddleback Leather suitcase on the way with a 100 year warranty. Very expensive item, still less than spending it in game for digital items that have no use when I am not playing and even worse the day the servers go down they completely disappear.

I'd love to have expendible money to do both, but I have not yet been able to hit that limit as there is always a tangible item I could rather use in day to day life over a digital item.

That is not how much money you need to spend at all, since March 9th 2026.

Update 49 made Outfit Slots account wide.
if you purchased 9 additional slots in total then all your characters have 10 slots, even if the additional slots were purchased on different characters.

I did switch out of my harvester/thief character's shiny outfit for something a bit less conspicuous for the new TG questline. The fact that outfit slots are account-wide these days makes this a bit easier, as I'd purchased a few on my main character so he can dress the part for whatever areas he's in. I do like that my other characters can now benefit from that now.

... and collecting motifs/colors is something that's always on my to-do list, so I might as well use them. ;)

Events no, but I do have outfits for my characters to use for questing.

My main has 10 styled outfits, plus a couple dyed costumes, for various environments -- general warm environment, cool environment, cold weather, desert/wasteland, as well as several for fitting into various cultural contexts or hiding in plain sight.

My alts are all only playing through a few zones each, and they all (except one Argonian, who is too minimal for multiple outfits) have 2-5 outfits intended for various stages in their story.

Unless I'm in a hurry or otherwise not in the mood I like my characters to be dressed appropriately for what they're doing, but that can be as simple as tying their hair back when they go into a delve and a change of clothes usually means choosing from the existing options (outfits and costumes) rather than making something new.

I might make a new outfit for a whole zone (like something warm for a snowy zone) but not for one quest line because it's likely to be too short to be worth the hassle and there's a good chance I'll go between that and several other things and I don't want to keep changing it.
