Are nowhere keys even real?

I had a tome challenge to find 10 nowhere keys. The tool tip says from thievesctroves, treasure chests and other resources. I opened up so many treasure chests and no nowhere key, not 1.
Has anyone found any? If so pls share where you looted it from.

I don't even think they're called Nowhere Keys yet, it sounds like a bug. Maybe a Challenge got introduced too soon, or the name is wrong?

Found a Treasure named Golden Treasure Box in a random dig spot in Reaper’s March, it doesn’t have a “treasure type”…

I got one earlier! They have a sell price of 0 gold and cannot be locked, so keep that in mind when mass selling to vendors.

Ah yes, that's what they're called for now, couldn't remember.

But yeesh, the fact that they can't be locked and can be sold is...an oversight imo. They shouldn't be vendorable.

Do the thieves guild quest ones not count? I think I had to steal like multiple during the mq.

Thank you. My tomes challenge said specifically to find 10 'nowhere keys'. I re-read it to make sure.

Where are they supposed to drop from? The tome challenge says treasure chests, thieves traces and safe boxes. I've spent the last 3 hours farming those and not a single key dropped.

From what ive been reading on player comments, they seem to start dropping after you progress through the thieves guild
questline. I hope to continue with the thieves guild dailies and quests so i shall see.

Seems reasonable. You have to complete the main story to access the Nowehere Vault initially, so it wouldn't make sense to have them dropping randomly outside of that beforehand.

If it is the RNG is still low. Ive done the whole TG quest and opened around 80 treasure chests and 30 safe boxes and still nothing

Where did you find it?

I think it was a Glenumbra dynamic encounter. Which is technically a treasure chest. At least it was counting them in the Tome as treasure chests.

Regarding where these are supposed to drop from, it was said in the livestream that they drop from all manner of activities, like Thieves-related stuff, Delve Bosses, Dynamic Encounters, Favors, and numerous others:

And from what he said they're supposed to drop quite often, they aren't meant to be rare. So it's possible it's a bug if they're dropping so infrequently, or that the loot table has a decimal or a number in the wrong spot.

That would be unfortunate for me if you have to advance the TG quest for them to drop. I’ve been doing as many dynamic events as I can before falling asleep from boredom from all of the waiting. I’d prefer to do the quest once the crowds die down.

You don't need to do the quest for them, not that I'm aware of hearing.

I have gotten all 10. I couldn't tell you where I got them because I have no idea. I spent a lot of time looking for them getting chests and thieves troves and I would check the tome page and I would have gotten some but it always came as a surprise as there wasn't no indication I had received anything.

I had 8 for while and when I turned in two Freebooter quests I got the last two. Again no indicator.

I had already abandoned the initial quest because I couldn't get through he gate but I kept on circling the beginner islands for chests. I had only done two Thieves guild quest prior to that a long time ago.

Nowhere Vault is simply not yet implemented. Check the official roadmap.
"September 21 - Update 51 - New Challenge: Nowhere Vault"

I completed Thieves guild quest line, farmed about 40 Treasure Chests, 15 Thieve Troves and about 150 Lockboxes(safebox) because I decided to finish Larcenist achievements.
Got 0 Nowhere Keys.
So I can confirm it's simply not in the game.
And the Planar Key is probably just a super rare temporary placeholder drop.

And yes, they could activate seasonal Tome quest for Nowhere keys later in September because now it's stupid confusing.
Now everybody will be looking at incompletable quest for almost 3 moths.

They literally can't.

That quest and everything isn't in the game right now. It's in U51, so it won't even be able to open until September when it drops.

A guild member got one from a treasure map in Craglorn.

I got my first key today too from a Dynamic Encounter chest.
