ZOS, why would you put that kind of Tomes weekly challenges?

For that challenge, that is worth 3×200 tomes, you have to do a very specific daily quest of the Thieves Guild.

BUT:
  • you only have 6 days to do it (remove 3–4 days if you have a job like me)
  • you have to farm the first three quests of the Thieves Guild main questline to get access to this specific daily quest
  • you can get only one quest per day per character, which means that, if you can only play during the weekend, you have to do it on 12 characters (2×12 = 8×3 in order to get the 3×200 tomes)
  • you don't get anything if you finish the quest without the optional timed side quest
Honestly, how are we supposed to achieve that?

You have re-rolls. This is why it's always best to check ASAP what your challenges are so you don't start them by accident.

It doesn't disappear after one week, so you'll have more time to do it.

Hang on, why do we only have six days to do it? I thought this seasons content wasn't supposed to be removed?

Unless something has changed with the new season, uncompleted weekly challenges don't expire at 7 days. They carry over to the next week; you can have as many as 12 active challenges, IIRC.

You can do it on more than one toon. As well, you can share the quests with other players and do all 4 in a day.

I rerolled that one. I was going to let it rollover from week to week until it was done, but then changed my mind.

Well this challenge can stay in your tome until next season. You can decide to roll it, but if you complete it once you can not roll it.

Yeah Challenges don't reset every week. If you don't finish any your first week, they'll carry over to next week, up to all five. The carryover happens until you have 12 Challenges, which means two full weeks' worth and then 2 from the third week will all carry over guaranteed.

At that point you don't get any further Challenges unless you reroll the ones you have or complete them. Or when the Season ends and a new one starts.

I guess I should look at the challenges in case there is something I actually want to purchase. There is just not enough motivation to do it right now.

See those seven empty slots below the five current challenges? No you do not have to complete that challenge in a week. It's going to stay put through next week's five challenges, and the next's, and ... until you have 12 active challenges. At that point, you'll have to decide whether to keep it or reroll it, but if you claim that first batch of 200 Tome Points from doing 8 of them, then you're stuck with the challenge until the other two repetitions are completed. Otherwise it can be rerolled and you seem to have 12 rerolls available.

EDIT: going to have to jump back onto this because I missed some stuff. First, the only quest in the original Thieves Guild questline you have to complete is Quen's "Partners in Crime," which unlocks Spencer Rye in Hew's Bane. "The Codex Caper" in Glenumbra does the same for the board in Daggerfall, but that board is currently bugged and its missions don't count.

Second, I think your math is off. You get 200 points per completion, so 200 points for each eight Finder quests (which is currently only Spencer Rye's), but the whole challenge is worth 600. Your call on whether the bang is worth the buck on that one.

Third, there is no timer on reacquisitions. Heists have a timer, but don't count for the challenge. Jobs and Reacquisitions have no timer.
