I've been getting constant freezes since the update 50. The game also crashes frequently without an error message. I tried the repair function, but it didn't help. Turning the graphics settings all the way down didn't work either; the image freezes every few seconds. Does anyone have the same problems?
I’ve uninstalled the game and all add-ons, deleted the folder in "Documents," and reinstalled everything from scratch. All drivers—including Windows—are fully up to date. I’m experiencing the same issues on two different PCs: my own and my girlfriend's. There is stuttering, followed by sudden game crashes. The client then prompts me to repair the game—something I’ve done at least 20 times already. The problems escalated after Update 49, and since Update 50, the game has become unplayable on PC; completing quests, dungeons, and raids is now impossible. I even updated my motherboard BIOS, but that didn't help either. It’s the same story every time: freezes and crashes. I haven't found any solutions on the ESO forums or here, despite trying every conceivable troubleshooting step. Does anyone know if Zenimax is aware of the issue, and when a fix—whether via update or hotfix—might be coming? I thought the last server maintenance or update would resolve it, but that wasn't the case. I simply can't play ESO like this—and that applies to both PCs. I’ve been playing since 2015, but it has never been this bad; essentially, it has become unplayable.
I’ve heard from several people in the guild about similar issues—stuttering, screen freezing, and the problem with the bosses. It would be nice to know the cause or whether Zenimax is working on these issues, but I haven't found anything on the official forum indicating that they are.
I’ve just deleted Minion, TTC, and all folders—basically everything related to ESO—from both PCs. Upon logging in for the first time without TTC or Minion (just ESO), it crashed to the Windows desktop right at the loading screen. Now the game client is displaying a message stating that the ESO file might be corrupt, so I’m running a repair and will try again.
I’ve now had the ESO client run a repair. As I mentioned, I tried logging in a second time—without TTC or Minion—but the game crashed when the Battle Pass screen appeared. Perhaps someone else has faced similar issues and found a solution? I’m afraid I’ve run out of options.
The problem was so severe in the Night Market area that the game became unplayable; I could barely get through the intro and join a faction before it stopped working.
Afterward, I formatted the hard drive, reinstalled Windows 11 (including ESO), and installed all the latest drivers—chipset, graphics card, etc.—without restoring anything from the Windows cloud. The crashing actually got worse after that. At first, I thought the PCs weren't handling the heat well, so I took both apart, cleaned them, and put them back together. I ran various tests to rule out hardware failure. All other games run perfectly. Even when I stream and record video while playing, there are no issues. Only ESO became unplayable. Lowering the graphics settings to the minimum didn't help either. I even swapped graphics cards—trying a GTX 1080 Ti, a GTX 970, and an R9 290—but they all had the same problem. One PC has an Intel Core i7-4790, 32GB RAM, and a GTX 970 (running Windows 10); the other has an Intel Core i5-9400F, 16GB RAM, and an Asus GeForce GTX 1080 Ti 8GB, SSD drive. Have ESO's system requirements increased? Or what exactly is causing the issues? ESO ran perfectly before Update 49. It’s particularly frustrating because we both have ESO Plus subscriptions but can no longer play the game. I’m at a loss. Our ESO Plus memberships expire in August, but if we can't play, there's no point in renewing two subscriptions. Is this a known issue, or what is the cause?
