@ZOS_NickG I'd like to start with an apology.
I'm sorry that those of us who support you haven't been louder. I hope you know that you have a lot of fans throughout the ESO community. Even us PvP players are in your corner and our relationship with the devs has been... let's just say a little rocky at times.
Everyone I know finds you relatable, intelligent, and genuinely likeable. More importantly, you come across as authentic. I've been impressed ever since that first interview where you said you could "count on one hand the number of days you haven't logged into an MMO over the last 10 years". That's when I knew this was our guy.
There are a lot of us in the ESO community who have a huge amount of faith in Nick, but most of that support seems to stay in private Discords and conversations with friends. We complain publicly when things go wrong, but we don't always speak up when someone is doing a good job. Ain't that always the way?
That authenticity matters more than polished PR statements and carefully rehearsed interviews. It's refreshing to hear someone who actually sounds like themselves. I hope ZOS never loses that, because it's one of the biggest reasons people connected with you so quickly.
This week has been brutal for the studio. Friends and colleagues are gone, the future is uncertain, and I can't imagine what it's been like behind the scenes.
You don't need to promise us the impossible and you don't need to have every answer today. Just keep being honest with us. If there's one thing this community has always responded to, it's authenticity.
Nick, you've got a lot more people behind you than you probably realise. There are many talented people who deserve credit for building the game we've all spent thousands of hours playing, but I think it's about time we stopped keeping our appreciation to private conversations and said it publicly. It's time Nick got his flowers.
