A whole month has passed now since Vengeance removed dual wielding and 1 hand & shield.

I don't play Vengeance but I went in it a few days ago because I was bored and I was shocked to find out that you can only use 2 handed, bows, and staves!

Apparently this was done on the June 10th HotfIx
Vengeance
We have disabled the use of certain Vengeance Only Weapons, in particular the weapons which can be wielded in your off hand. We also have disabled these items from appearing in your inventory if you log out and log back into Vengeance. These items were disabled and removed to protect against item loss with full inventories while in Vengeance. We'll have a long-term fix in a future update.

Like jeez I know layoffs and everything but it's kinda a bad look now that it's been a full month basically and no fix here.

Eh? Go to your non-vengeance inventory while in or out of vengeance and equip whatever you like. What got removed were the white templated weapons not the ability to use them.

I play in the Vengeance campaign, and wasn't aware of this.

However, I'd been told-- way back during one of the Vengeance tests last year-- that the weapon is just there to give access to the weapon skill line. My question was specifically about the difference between the CP150 Vengeance-only weapons and my usual CP160 weapons. So before I go to Vengeance, I equip my own weapons of choice, which grants access to Vengeance's versions of those weapon skill lines. As I understand it, the weapon itself does not give any damage, so the CP level, weapon trait, quality, enchantment, item set, etc., have no affect on the damage you're doing.

I just tested this with a pair of CP160 daggers that I'd crafted for leveling up my Dual Wield skill line. I equipped the daggers before queuing into Vengeance, and was able to assign the Vengeance versions of the Dual Wield skills on my skill bar. I then went to Bruma and captured it using Dual Wield and a bit of my usual Two-Handed.

From the comment, it sounds like this was done to protect players against possible item loss, and not due to any issues with the weapon skills themselves, so I'm guessing your own Dual Wield or One Hand and Shield weapons to access those skills in Vengeance would not be considered an exploit-- but any items lost from your inventory due to the apparent bug would be on you, not on ZOS.

Yes I thought about it as soon as I made this thread. It works but it's still annoying to do. Plus a whole month has passed and they still seemingly haven't fixed it.

For them promoting Vengeance as the path forward for large scale cyro pvp, it doesn't really look good to have such a big bug not be fixed a month later. Because there will be people like me who don't think about pre equipping weapons they want to use in Vengeance before entering.

See, here's the thing: for anyone watching, it was never the path forward but the path backward. It's not surprising that a stripped down mode meant to simplify and slow combat isn't receiving any attention.

That's because development priorities have shifted over the last 2 years not only in terms of content and depth, but in playability as well.

This is a patch where I repeatedly end up on #0 in Gray Host queue. When it happens I have to flip a coin (it won't let you leave the queue at that point by the way even if you log off). Heads, the game eventually lets me in Cyro after 15-30 min or so, or tails, I get DCed with an internal error and can't login for 24-48 hours+.

When this is the same patch that is happening, I don't think the developers care about PvP in the slightest.

We don't have a stable client and it runs bad, the network behind it is buggy and repeatedly causing issues (see PC EU), tons of quests are bugged (try completing the subclassing quest if you had it before and can't drop it due to a double bug), tons of unfixed bugs like one you can get in Psijic line that the portals simply don't spawn and work and it prevents you from EVER completing the quest, etc. we can go on.

When this is the current state of the game, even before we discuss the cuts, I seriously doubt they are investing anything into PvP right now. The Vengeance issue you have is only a sign of a greater issue...

Vengeance has actually been a lot of fun to play in once I adapted to the lack of CP, lack of gear bonuses and procs, lack of food and drink buffs, lack of crafted potions, lack of weapon traits and enchantments, etc. And contrary to what a lot of people say, it is far from dead. Sure, it is suffering from the way a lot of players have been boycotting it, and the populations of the various alliances fluctuate depending on the time of day, but it's been fun for the most part.

Don't get me wrong, I do have some issues with certain aspects of it, such as the way all of the gear rewards are worthless in Vengeance and almost seem designed to make people go back to Gray Host if they want to actually benefit from the rewards.

But it also has some really nice features, such as not having to purchase siege weapons and repair kits and forward camps because you get the Vengeance versions of those things for free. I also like how the Vengeance skill bars and quickslot wheel are separate from the usual ones, such that you can go back and forth between Cyrodiil and other zones without having to keep setting those things back up each time.

Vengeance was a last gasp attempt at fixing a systemic issue and it failed by almost every metric. They barely cared about PVP before the last round of layoffs and I wouldn’t expect much attention to this mode—or any other—moving forward.
