Do you see dynamic encounters on the (world)map if you are not in the zone?

Do you have to be in the zone to see the icon on the map or will I also see it if im in another zone?

You have to be in the instance where the Dynamic Encounter is active.

honestly these encounters just feel very poorly and inconveniently designed... have to wait forever, have to be in the area,... not really "fun" tbh more like a chore...

these would be much more fun if they had harder fights, took longer but you can see them from everywhere in the world so players flock to this event for example to defeat a big wave of enemies followed by a big boss or something

Honestly, 30 mintues or so cooldown is ridiculous in any game

No no no, the cooldown should be longer and the task should be shorter!

Yesterday I was in Auridon, waiting for the event. Had not started yet. Ported quickly to Glenumbra, check map, port immediately to Stonefalls, check map, back to Auridon, encounter had started! Quickly there that 200m and... I missed it!

But other times I have just managed to make it in Glenumbra and Stonefalls since those are moving ones and last slightly longer. But if these would be just slightly shorter, it would increase the chances of missing it.

To maximise the frustration, I would recommend that the cooldown is dynamic, between 45 minutes and 1h 15 minutes so you cannot trust a clock. And the encounter itself would be maximum of 2 minutes long to maximise the chances of missing it.

It's already a good attempt from ZOS, but with just minor changes they could make it even more frustrating.

I did them for the first time the second day, and I could go to Auridon and do that one, then to Glenumbra and that one came up shortly, then to Stonefalls for a 30 minute wait. Today it seems both Auridon and Glenumbra were both up at the same time. I waited for the Stonefalls for probably 30 minutes and then again for 30 minutes for the Auridon one. These should be designed so that a player can do all of them without missing them or the wait time goes through the roof.

SWTOR was the first game I saw with dynamic encounters. There, they come up for 15 to 30 minutes and let everyone who attends in that time frame to complete them. They basically keep resetting or respawning for that duration.

Here, you have to wait around or you'll miss it. I wish if they were going to do something like this, they do it more like that rather than what they gave us. Maybe in a few months when the novelty has worn off, everyone can enjoy these. Oh wait...they'll probably pull them as they seem to be enjoying pushing limited time FOMO events after telling people they wanted to give us less FOMO.

the first game i saw having dynamic events was warhammer online (2008)... and they were better designed tbh...

Dynamic Encounters are permanent. They say when something is temporary because of being experimental and/or an Event. Would you prefer they never try new things instead?

the only event i ever manage to "stumble" across is the vampire one because its a bit longer...the other 2 are simply too short, over so quickly that without waiting for them you probably will barely ever see them which defeats their whole purpose in the first place...

If they are going to not give us content we can play when we have time, YES.
