What is the point of this?

An alliance can get more points by NOT playing, which is ludicrous.

If players of that alliance cannot be bothered to show up, that’s on them. They should not be rewarded for it.

Not showing up isn't the point at all. Its not getting rewarded for not playing, it's being rewarded for playing even though you're outnumbered.

They really need to fix these bonuses in the first place.

The idea is solid - entice people to go into Cyrodiil when their alliance is an underdog to encourage more fights. However... those bonuses really aren't helping.

If you're an underdog by that much, double AP isn't going to help you be able to go up against the Emperor of that campaign unless you've got a group of your own. And it seems that the bonuses weren't getting people in.

I've been in Cyrodiil plenty of times where we were gated and the entire map was one color. And then just trying to go cap one resource right outside of my gate, I suddenly got mobbed by several of the dominating alliance... even though they literally couldn't warp there. That means that that alliance was literally just sitting in a Cyrodiil that they owned everything (and therefore not earning AP...?) just waiting for people to get on in the other alliances, so they could fight them right as they got out the gates. And since the dominant alliance had all of the AP bonuses from the scrolls, the emperor, the three bonus keeps... that meant that they are more rewarded to keep the other alliances gated than the underdog alliance is to ret a foothold.

In essence, without the bonuses, the Cyrodiil system is literally encouraging avoiding PvP because it encourages gating the other alliances and preventing them from even getting a foothold. The underdog alliances are then fighting at a disadvantage all the time.

Cyrodiil works best when the three alliances are balanced. As such, they should lean more into bonuses and offer them more regularly to encourage a balance of the alliances at all times. And if a single alliance just owns everything permanently, that encourages underdogs to avoid the zone, so there should be a way to discourage that after a while.

I'd agree that there should be more bonuses and buffs to low-pop Alliances, especially things that make it so you at least are on par with potential giant groups of opposing Alliances and have a chance at taking stuff back even if you only have a few people running with you.

Are there debuffs for when any given Alliance has claimed most or all of the map? If not maybe that could be something that gets looked into? It would encourage people not to just Alliance stack since if there are too many of them, it would start making them weaker. Diminishing returns, yeah?

Though it would have to go based on current population and not just what Alliance actually has the map. I know it can be mostly one color but that not actually mean there's a bunch of that Alliance on; it can be from a handful of folks just taking stuff during off-hours or something then there aren't actually other Alliance people around to fight them.
