I didn't even pay attention (not that it would matter as my legerdemain is already maxed out on the toon I was using), but does it award Legerdemain reputation if you pick it?

I noted that while the Thieves Guild stuff was up on PTS. For some reason or other, the chests in that area respawned exceptionally fast. If memory serves, there are about a half dozen of them, I made a point of looting all of them as soon as I entered the area and was able to pick and loot all of them a couple or three more times before I'd finished the three puzzles and I already knew the puzzle solutions by the last three-ish PTS cycles. There's no reason to go back after completing that quest, so it's mostly only good for the weekly Treasure Chest challenge, and that's assuming it's possible to go back. The bookcase entrance is exit-only after that first puzzle to get in.

I think the OP was referring to the point that you can pick that chest infinitely, as it respawns instantly as long as you don't solve the puzzle.

Yes, you do get Legerdemain xp every time.

It's part of the new Thieves Guild quest line. I won't comment past that to avoid spoilers. But it's impossible to miss if you're doing that quest line.

That's Intermediate, 2 points. Advanced and Master will give you 4 and 8, respectively. Might be a good lazy option, but I still think southern Rivenspire (the coloured part in the screenshot) will give you more points per hour, since the chests can be any difficulty.

In my Harvest addon I have a route for about 60 nodes there, mostly chests but a few thieves troves as well. So in this tiny area are more than 50 chests.
