Where's the discount...?

I just purchased the Season 1 Premium Tome as I have some "free funds" (sold some CS skins) on my Steam account. After buying the "normal" Premium Tome for 14.99 EUR I see that "owners of the premium tome get a 50% discount on the premium + bonus version". However, had I wanted that version it would've cost me 29.99 EUR. With the "discount" I'm supposed to pay an additional 14.99 EUR. Where's the discount? Unless someone thinks saving 0.01 EUR is a bargain not to be missed. Perhaps *I* am missing something...

The discount is that Premium+ costs 50% less because you already bought Premium.

I assume that means it's 30 EUR for the whole Premium + Bonus Tome, and because that purchase includes the Premium Tome, if you already have Premium, it's only 15 EUR (50% off). While that isn't what I would call a 50% discount (more like two upgrades of 15 EUR), I sort of understand how it could technicallybe described that way.

At least, it wouldn't make sense if the Premium + Bonus Tome was a separate 15 EUR that was 50% off to 7.5 EUR if you already owned the Premium. Because then it would be 30 EUR to get both together, but only 22.5 EUR to buy the pass and then upgrade it.

Other games with season passes don't always have this option, you have to only decide at the start which version to get, with no discount on the upgraded version. So it may have been an attempt to clarify (that could use work).

Again, where's the discount? Buy Premium + Bonus for 29.99 in the first place. No one in their right mind would "upgrade" from Premium to Premium + Bonus for the same price they could've gotten Premium + Bonus in the first place. And if someone would even *consider* upgrading from Premium to Premium + Bonus for an additional 29.99 EUR I would recommend seeing a doctor.

Indeed we did. And I felt compelled to create a thread here because of the sheer daftness of it all. :)

The Premium+ costs 30. This is discounted to 15 if you buy the Premium first.

If there was no discount, then Premium+ would cost 30 regardless of whether you had already bought Premium.

A discount is a type of reduction but has a narrower meaning. In this instance "Reduction" would be a more fitting choice of words, but technically "Discount" does also apply.

For me I'm not understanding as a 5 year ESO plus member, I only got 7 premium tokens. I had bought the premium season tomes for Season 0 and I'm auto renewed for ESO plus membership quarterly. So how did I not get the 12?

You get 1 token per month of ESO+. So a quarterly sub would give you 3 tokens each renewal

Nope. There are two parts to the purchase: Premium and "+Bonus" (the Bonus is a Corgi pet, btw). If you buy both, then it's $30. If you buy Premium only, then you can still buy the bonus for $15 until the Tome ends. It's not that there is any discount on Premium+Bonus, but only that there are two components and you have the option of buying one now and the other later (noting that you can't get the Corgi now and then go Premium later).
I'm fresh out of outrage, but I could muster up some amused annoyance if required.

This is typical American marketing text. It's basically saying we, as a company, are not so unethical that we would charge full price if you want the bonus after already buying the premium.

I guess that's good of ZOS as there are some game publishers that might charge full price for the premium+bonus if you've already bought the premium.

How would a further discount make any sense? Premium is $15. Premium+Pet is $30. If buying Premium reduced Premium+Pet to something less than $15 (let's say, $10), everyone would just buy Premium for $15 and the discounted Premium+Pet right after that for $10 and get everything for $25. Why would anyone buy everything the season has to offer in one step for $30 if they could buy everything in two steps for $25?
