Well done, ZOS. You created a LINE IN ESO. There are players there WAITING IN A HECK OF LINE to enter the door of the... castle? Manor? I don't remember. The Thieves quest in Glenumbra.

This is so ridiculous... oh ESO... this is so lame...

    PTS can stress test with as many players as there are playing PTS. Would you believe me if I told you there are fewer PTS players than there are live players?

    I don't understand why everyone is in such a hurry to do these quests immediately that they are willing to suffer through this. The new Thieves Guild questline is a permanent addition to the game, and even the Tome challenge to complete them gives you 100 days or whatever.

    I haven’t started this since I heard about the problems with the quest. I’ll do it later.

    The only place I ever cut in line is in Tamriel and I feel like a heartless, inconsiderate waste of space right now.

    A lot of the problem is players not understanding the bug. It appears to be two-fold:
    1. Only one player can pick the lock at a time - bad but not the real issue
    2. The game camera does not pick up the lock - you have to slowly move your reticle over the door. The hitbox can be as small as 1 x 1 pixel from my experience. (I abandoned the quest several times to test other bugs inside).

    To be fair to ZOS, we did. I ran through the entire story line multiple times, always once and often two or three times per cycle and I believe the Thieves Guild stuff showed up in Week 2, so close to a dozen times through. Each time I went through I caught and identified every bug/glitch that I could (you can still find my exceptionally lengthy posts about it over on the PTS forum, btw). The major problem with stuff like this on PTS is that we don't have dozens/hundreds of players all trying to do the same story stuff at the same time. I recall quite a mob inside the Daggerfall Thieves Den at various points while testing, but this was primarily due to that room being the pick-up/turn-in point for most of the story quests, so the "mob" was a collection of individual players all doing something different that just happened to start/end in the same room. Might I suggest that if you think particular stuff should be tested on PTS, that you install PTS and join us?

    If only there were people on a software team paid to plan and have foresight about these things, automated tools to test it artificially, and real testers. It almost sounds like a role that should be on every software team...

    Players shouldn't have to playtest anything; the designers are responsible for it. Shifting blame to PTS testers is a definite hard no, esp. when none of them benefit financially from their input in the first place nor do they have any direct power to effect any change.
