It is good for the game period. You either benefit from it, or it doesn't affect you at all.
That's not true, there's achievements and rewards to unlock with it, so even if you don't like it, but your an achievo, you have to hold your nose and use the system. For those players, thank god that players on lower difficulty can carry you through encounters.
But that is the odd part with the increased difficulty settings. You aren't instanced, so YOU aren't showing any increased skill in encounters, in most cases where there are others around you, you are just getting carried. Case in point? for S/G's my guild did dragons on vestige during the event. We were dead constantly, and the only way the dragon was killed was because there were so many other players on lower difficulties doing all the work and we were basically leaching off of their success.
IMO, the increased difficulty settings would be far more interesting if they were completely instanced where only players on that difficulty are in your instance.
