I don't know the fate of ESO (with all the recent layoffs) - but seems like now is a good time to state my appreciation for the game and my deep gratitude for all those who worked on the game and helped to provide an escape to every day life.

ESO has been my after work go-to for more than a decade.
It's hard for me to imagine what my after work routine will look like without it. I know there's a good number of you here that have also contemplated the void that's going to be left behind once ESO closes its doors - whether that's soon, or 30 years from now.

I just want to take the moment; recognize the game as a whole, and recognize all those who've had a part in it's existence and say thank you.

For better or worse, I appreciate being able to fire siege. When it works.

Probably going to get called sad for this, I'll take it.

Tamriel is my day to day life. I have the game on while doing real life things for the ambience, I build homes I could never in real life. I think about character backstories when doing the washing up. My sorc paints and sings, so I started painting 'her' travels across Tamriel in gouache in a large travel sketchbook. I've been writing 'her' songs and learning how to sing so I could share them without embarrassment. I've been designing crochet patterns for clannfear, guar and dragonfrogs (they're not ready). I met my real life fiance in Tamriel.

As a "third space", it is one of the better games. I say better, I don't know a better one, I'm here. You can beat your friend's teeth into the Stonefalls dirt at the wayshrine, run trials and dungeons with willing victims, play cards frustratingly slowly or shockingly fast with strangers, nose around other people's houses (and they want you to!) or go fishing for Sunport packs and Pyandonean bottles if you like gambling but like it free. Most games wish they were this.

Downsides, yeah, but if they were overwhelming we would have left.

So thank you to the Team for creating this.

This thread is great. It's too soon for a eulogy though. As part of a company that's seen mass layoffs a number of times through the years, I predict the wheel will keep turning -- albeit more slowly than any of us would like. Fingers crossed... :)

    That's wild, congrats!

Can't say that I met my wife here, but I can say she's spent at least HALF of my time in game on the couch next to me.
She watches her shows on her tablet. But every now and then she'll surprise me and say something like "wow, you're playing your sorc - you never play that one" or "oh I like your new outfit, that's way better than the red one".

Always catches me off guard when I realize how long and how many years we've been doing that.

Fine words, but ESO isn't closing its doors.
It may have gotten a little crippled, and it'll have a bit of trouble running like it used to, but it'll keep going.
If it's a little sick now, all the more reason not to leave it.
For better or worse, in sickness and in health... I'll stay with ESO!
