This is absolutely devastating. I see Gina and Finn have posted that they were included in the layoffs; I can't imagine ESO without either of them - and that's not to minimize the many others who also were affected whose names I don't currently know.

Sending you all - both the ones who were let go, and the ones who are still there - virtual hugs and wishing you all the best. Thank you for keeping the community updated, but please make sure to take care of yourselves!

I've spent more time on ESO than all of my other games combined, and part of it is because of the passion the team put into it. The content, the updates, the community care, all of it. I'm so upset for all impacted, those laid off, and those staying to pick up the pieces. I wish you all the very best in the coming months.

Hugs and love to everyone in the ESO team and especially those who were laid off. I can't believe we've lost even more amazing and talented people. I'm so sorry this is happening to you all, it really upset me to read the news today.

It really felt like ESO had turned a corner and some exciting new stuff was coming into the game, you were obviously working so hard to bring us new content and QOL changes. This just feels really cruel

Right now is not the best time for this.

You do realize that the corporation that laid a bunch of people off on a holiday weekend ordered the message at the beginning of this thread prioritized over any acknowledgment of, or apology for, the login server issues that locked out a significant portion of its customer base last night, right?

I feel like I was punched in the face. I never spoke a word with these people, yet I feel such big affection for them. Can’t have in this world. Real life sucked like hell, ESO was my only escape. I am devastated. Can’t even conceive how the staff is feeling. Corporate greed will kill the world.

What can I say. I wish all the good in the world to the affected people. I am deeply sorry for you.

I will not give a single dime to Microsoft ever again. I will continue supporting ESO as long as I can. Other than that, I will never touch anything Microsoft related

This is the most heartbreaking layoff I've felt since I started playing back at the beginning.. None of them are easy but with this one we lost the face of ESO, and the voice of pve content. You guys, I'm so sad right now.

I'm so sorry guys, I know the team was already small and struggling, but I was overall happy with the direction that things were going for ESO, it was just the matter of waiting for it to come forth. Don't stress too much about detailed updates, I think most players 'in the know' of what happened understand that things are pretty rough and need a lot of reorganizing, at the very least.

This really, really sucks, and as someone who's been through her share of tech layoffs and spent a year and a half unemployed before finding my current position, I grieve for the ZOS staff impacted today.

Thank you all for your work and I hope this brutal job market will do you a solid and let you not be unemployed for long.

why laying off a cash cow that produces stable reliable revenues AND is an ambassador / marketing platform for elder scrolls games - which take a looooong time to develop in between (and afai understand thats where Msoft wants to focus on, big ip's, fallout and elder scrolls)

Terrible news, so sorry for everyone who got hit, directly and indirectly. It's just so heartbreaking when you see something you love so much get treated like something almost disposable by the higher-ups, but of course it's even worse for the people who are affected and who lose something that I honestly believe has become a part of their very being.

All I can do as a player is continue to support the game I love so much, it's the only way for me to show how much I want you guys to be able to keep working on this world we share, I'm glad I'm lucky enough to be able to do so. I have faith that the remaining members still care as much for the game and I hope you're given the means to keep working on what you want to work on.
