Concept: Companion Party System

With the upcoming solo dungeons, I think there should be a discussion regarding companions. Not that companions need to be changed by themselves but it is the realization that there are no scenarios for the players to need more than one companion. And that leads to a missed opportunity to have companions interact or synergize with each other.

I want to propose the idea of a Companion Party System that a player can form in very specific locations.
These specific locations include:
-Quest Solo Instances (Main Quests, Alliance Quests, Zone Quests, Etc)
-Solo Dungeons (The upcoming feature)
-Group Dungeons (Limited to only having two companions instead of having three others.)

So what would this companion party system look like?
-I envision it as a group UI where you can swap different companions and characters to fill roles such as: Tank, Healer, Melee DPS, Range DPS. The player character, will be able to fill whatever role they choose to desire. Want to be a tank? Have all your companions DPS! Want to be a healer? Have a tank companion and two other DPS!

The reason I believe there should be a companion party system is due to the fact there is little reason to revisit old companions and make specific companion pieces more desirable to get. And there seems to be a huge audience for solo play. This party system can also be a solution to those who wish to play vestige mode in solo instanced quests and give them some companions to aid them from difficult fights!

I like this idea. As someone who barely does anything in groups unless I’m running trials for gear, it would be great to have more companions with me and it would be a great help in solo things like solo dungeons.

"I'm a God, how can you kill a God? What a grand and intoxicating innocence"

I'm a PvE Healer but mostly play solo questing these days. Lore enthusiast and long-term Elder Scrolls Fan, dating back to Morrowind, but my favourite is Oblivion.

why not allow us to equip all companions we've leveled at the same time, then we wouldn't even have to play, the companions would just play the game for us.

Much to be said for the idea.

The reasons I prefer running with companions are several. Companions: Stay in character. Advance at my pace. Don't mind a bit if I need to visit the little elf's room, fill my drink, make a snack. Are totally trouble free at coordinating schedules to ensure they are available to play when I want.

The possibility of interactive conversation among them is alluring. I'd love for two companions to simultaneously say, "Shutup, Bastion!" when Bastion whines over a rat wandering into my AoE. :)

Exactly. Think of the possibility of companion interactions?
I can totally see Sharp and Zerith-var getting along.
Maybe Azander making a joke of taking Ember as an apprentice
Tanlorin teasing Bastion of his lactose intolerance

It would be nice to give us a reason to have all these companions together.
