Suggestion: Display Alts in Primary Home

I would like to propose a new feature for Player Housing that could significantly enhance immersion and quality of life.

The idea is to allow us to place our own alternate characters (alts) in our Primary Home, similar to how we currently place Assistants, Companions, and Houseguests. Once placed, we could interact with these characters to directly swap to them, bypassing the need to log out to the main menu.

How It Would Work:

In the Housing Editor, we could select our alts from the list and place them in our home, much like placing a Houseguest. We could even choose a pose or emote for them (e.g., sitting, reading, leaning against a wall).

Interacting with a placed alt would trigger a character swap. This would function similarly to a wayshrine or door transition, with a brief loading screen, but would be much more thematic than exiting to the character select screen.

If we are currently logged in as that character, they would automatically become hidden in the house until you switch to another one.

Benefits:

This would bring our characters to life, making them feel like a true "clan," guild, or adventuring party that shares a home. It would be a fantastic way to showcase our fashion and character designs. For players with many characters who run daily writs or other tasks, this would streamline the process of swapping between them, reducing menu time. This would add a much-desired layer of functionality and personality to our homes, making them feel like a true hub for all our characters.

Given that homes already support loading multiple player characters (when guests visit) and we have functional NPCs like bankers and merchants, this seems like a technically possible extension of existing systems.

I believe this feature would be a wonderful addition to the game, enriching both the housing and roleplaying aspects. Thank you for considering this suggestion!

I've wanted something similar to this for a while but I'd extend it to any house. I've wanted a way to have my characters interact with their friends, lovers, family members, etc in some way and housing might be the easiest way to do it.

My additional suggestions would be making it so you can choose your alt's appearance from preloaded outfits for that house and similar to mounts let them have preset actions including your emotes or custom actions.

Still at least having this in any form is a good start and it could possibly be built on later on.

I would absolutely love this. It would fit perfectly with my personal RP between my characters and it’s something I’ve wanted in some form for some time

I've seen this pop up a couple of times as a suggestion, both having your alts as Houseguests and being able to use them as a means of swapping to them without switching out.

I'm not really sure if coding either would be possible, but I'd 1000% love making our alts Houseguests. I RP a lot and several of my characters know each other, so it'd be nice if I could physically reflect X character being at Y character's house for a scene rather than people just having to imagine them being there lol.

This wouldn't really work for me because none of my characters live in my primary house. They each have their own personal houses where they stay when I am not actively playing them.

If this became a feature, I would appreciate Appearance Change tokens, as all of my characters look identical, under the premise that they do not live in a shared world with each other.
Dragon Priest [Restoring Light, Draconic Power, Grave Lord]
Death Knight [Grave Lord, Winter’s Embrace, Siphoning]
Pyromancer [Ardent Flame, Dawn’s Wrath, Earthen Heart]
Summoner [Living Death, Grave Lord, Daedric Summoning]
Ranger [Animal Companions, Green Balance, Shadow]
Druid [Earthen Heart, Animal Companions, Stormcalling]
Elementalist [Stormcalling, Winter’s Embrace, Ardent Flame]
Dawnguard [Dawn’s Wrath, Restoring Light, Ardent Flame]

I've made that same suggestion a fair while ago and heard it was also suggested before myself, I sure hope the devs catch this as more support for an idea to implement at some point. I'm pretty dedicated to the time I spent on each of my characters and might get me to be more mindful of my housing.

But definitely given the memory and server calculations that could come of it doesn't make it an easy feature to implement so I'd expect a lot of work to be needed before something like this can happen or maybe some compromises to be made.
