drop rate for the new furnishing plans in Glenumbra and Summerset

The game is already very easy, some time-consuming farms for high value, highly sought after rewards isn't a big ask.

Good for you when you are happy that way. There are other people who dont have much time for playing and it is absolutely no fun when you have to spend your rare playtime repeating the same Summerset dailies/ looting same NPCs/ containiers over and over again just to get maybe 1-2 new furnishing plans instead of actually playing and enjoying the game.

You don't need to engage with people who treat you this way. I don't know what they're getting out of this for all the effort they're investing, but they're not advancing the discussion or meaningfully engaging with anyone in the thread. Other people who care about decorating and are part of the community understand. It sucks that making neat Alinor style homes is going to be restricted to players who can count on 8m income every week -- mainly people who convert crowns to gold. Most of my friends who are decorators decorate a house about once every two months because of how expensive just basic decorating is, without considering plans that are worth 1-2m a pop.

My friends rely on crafting alts doing crafting dailies for about an hour every day to passively build up reliable income that funds their decorating. It's tedious. It's not helping anyone. But without it, they wouldn't be able to decorate at all -- they're not going to start doing PVP for the AP to gold grind. The skill they develop and effort they invest in the game is in the way they make better and more impressive builds. It's genuinely amazing. They add so much. They don't ask for much, instead just quietly toiling away to get what they need to do what they can. They're polite and even though they only have a couple hours to play a night, they'll always stop what they're doing to help anyone who asks for it. Their work is all for other people to enjoy:

The game is so much better for having people like my friends in it. They're so discouraged by the Alinor structural drop rate, they've written off being able to make builds with them and have stopped using their limited time on Summerset dailies. If there's an appropriate place for very rare plans, it's not structural furnishings where you're required to have 90% of them for a full and complete build. Structural furnishings famously can't be mixed and matched like any other category of furnishing in the game. The dimensions between different sets are different, and you can't patch that over. If there is a place for absurdly rare plans, it's something like the fancy Redguard bottles, that are individually special and are uniquely dazzling for a category that's already filled with viable options. The absence of a single bottle doesn't make or break a build concept.
    I care what you think.

I think this is a crucial point you make. I bought the new house with the intent to build an Altmer town, but without the matching structural plans and the cost to buy them from the lucky few who get the needed plans and then sell them quite high, this has been put on the back burner. I have another friend in the same spot - they gave up grinding Summerset dailies because of how bad the drop rate is.

The new Breton plans with a low drop rate are less aggravating to me than the structural high elf pieces. Yes I want them all, but I'm more willing to keep my fingers crossed for the cool desk to drop in whenever it happens. Waiting for all the high elf pieces to drop in 84 years or prices to plummet just kills my oomph to build.

Or, save up some gold and buy them. There are options.

Noone is forcing anyone to get these plans, but everyone seems to want them with little effort.

Why not continue to play and enjoy the game?

check the other furnishing plans, if you can buy some less than 100 000 gold show me these and there are more than 1 funishing plans in update50. im running in circles on 12 chars each day in summerset since the release and got total 5 plans.
I havent seen such a low drop rate ever.

40m for instant gratification? That's not a bad deal. Wait until things are not so new and people are done eating new plans/taking advantage of those unwilling to spend the time to farm themselves, and prices will drop significantly.

There is always a high cost to week 1 plans. There is also always a cost for those that don't want to put that effort in to get them.

As a decorator myself, I happily farm the plans, or pay for the ones that I really want and don't want to wait for. Calling for everything to be made easier is just unfair to those that enjoy the grind. I understand people wanting things without the need to do anything for them, but they've already done a lot of that in other aspects of the game.

of cause the price will go down but i dont want to wait 6 months to buy the plans at rolis or at an acceptable price, even blue ones are listed at 400 000 gold

Not sure what TTC you are checking, maybe another platform.
I see it trading on TTC for 9 to 20 mill. It's not 40 millions gold.
I paid 12 mil for mine and that was a few days ago.
That's for the epic 3 tier.

I have to wonder... if the people farming are doing it to get the plans for themselves or to sell and enjoy the high values themselves, and want the drop rate raised to cash in while they can? Or are those who luck into duplicates going to sell the duplicate at a much lower value and not be 'predatory'?

It's just going to be flipped, unfortunately.

I do think it's predatory if you support it, yes. I personally am in favour of prices going down across the board so we can all afford what we want. Even those of us who aren't billionaires. And I believe we have enough housing items at this stage, that ESO's stories will run out before housing loses its appeal, so just let us have the shiny things and enjoy the game while we can.

If flipped then hopefully those that do that and do it at the higher value aren't ones who are calling others predatory for the same thing.
It's not a matter of supporting it or not. It is what it is. People can ask what they want for items and I've held that view since day one. It's a choice to buy it or not. People don't have to ask for less just so those with less gold can buy it - that's ridiculous! It's a market, not a charity.

In earlier days I say a lot of patterns I wanted and had nowhere near the gold to buy them. An option?

Buy the finished items if they are there - you can still decorate your home and pay a lot less. Done.

If you don't see them, ask in zone or in guild if anyone can make them.

Then get the pattern when you can afford it (for probably a lot less than they go for now!)

Stop thinking its right to ask sellers to lower what they can get for an item just to make it buyable for others. They'll lower it anyway in time if it doesn't sell. Jeesh.

    As my original comment stated:

"My issue is why ZOS is allowing this unsavoury situation in the first place. Why, AGAIN, is the RNG for furnishing-related items so bad?"

The mechanics of pricing, supply and demand is to be expected. It is however fully within ZOS' power to set reasonable drop rates. They did it with gear drops with the gear curation system, so they can do it with furnishings as well. If they have shown that they can be respectful of players' time in that content, they can be respectful of our time with these as well.

Almost everyone here has said they don't mind doing some farming; spending some weeks farming is to be expected. I got most of my Mythics within a week or two, that's reasonable. Some of my dungeon sets took 2-3 weeks to farm. That's also reasonable. Some antiquity furnishings are taking me literal years to get. That's NOT reasonable.

It's only an unsavory situation to those that see it as such.

Most developers of MMOs don't much care about your time, they never have and never will. The only time they've adjusted something like this - and it was very rare - was on something that had a time limited access such as during an event.
For regular furnishings like these? They won't adjust it and nor should they.
Some things in the game should be kept rare, it's what makes them special.

Wow, I’m always amazed when people think that 9–20 million (or 40...) is—well, just a reasonable price for a new furnishing plan. I’m not even sure I could save up 9 million gold in a whole year...
I’m not in a trading guild; I only earn gold from crafting with my 6 characters, which I can’t even do every day because I only have about an hour a day to play.
This game should be fun and feel rewarding for all players, not just for those who have unlimited time to play, grind, and hoard gold. Right now, it’s absolutely no fun to work toward the new plans, and there’s never been such an extremely low drop rate. Period.

agree. I have the time to do crafting writs on 18 chars and dailies and farm, cause I m old and in retierement, but if someone has to work or study they dont have the time to play, better grind, the whole day. and though I could effort the price Im not willing to pay that

The only people who think the furnishing plan drop rates and prices are fine are those who farm and sell plans but are not into housing themselves. Those who do housing keep those expensive plans and learn them when they find them because you can’t guarantee they will drop again later. If they find a duplicate and can sell them for a good price, they turn around and buy one of the ones they don’t have for the same price.

I see the guild text chat for the housing guild I am in, those players farm all day long every day and I see “wow that is the first plan I have seen for days.” There is no way you can just play the game and get a single one of these plans, not only because of the low drop rate but because of the limited sourcing of these plans.

It’s a shame ZOS won’t address the issue because housing has kept the game going from what I’ve heard, but by making the hunt for plans so time consuming and hard to drop, it is hurting the housing community instead of helping it.

In that case, why bother with the plan? Spend much less gold to buy the furnishing itself.

The entitlement that everyone should be able to craft everything always amazes me. Let others do the work and pay them pennies to craft for you instead.

I eat every single plan I find, usually on multiple characters. I have a small group of friends that I give the rare/expensive plans that I already know to. Selling them is only when I want to make some space in a pinch.

I farm the plans myself, and if I really want a plan immediately, I'll drop a pile of gold to have it.

Why do decorators feel the need to own the plans? Most already complain about the material costs. Why not pay someone to craft the items for you? Much cheaper, much less time consuming.

I do a lot of decorating, in many, many houses. Including 3 fully finished guildhalls. Was it expensive? Absolutely. Was it worth it to me? Even more so.

If you don't want to put the effort to farm for plans or gather some gold to buy the plans, just get the furnishing itself. What is the unyielding need to own the plans?

Again, no one is saying they don't want to put in effort to farm. It's the fact that you can farm for literal years and not see some of these things that is the problem. There's a nuance to the issue being discussed that you are ignoring.

So, why the absolutely need for the plan? That part confuses me. Why not take the easiest method and hire a crafter?

Personally, I feel the drop rates are acceptable for highly sought after plans. Which, again, is easily remedied by finding a crafter. Fraction of the gold cost, and none of the alleged months/years opening urns.

Myself and many others I play with have found many of these new recipes. Pick-pick-poke everything in Glenumbra. Do some dailies in Summerset. Or find someone to make it, again.

Why can't you ask crafters to craft? We also enjoy making gold. It's not a bother when it's a paid offer.

There are many players that know all the plans and recipes, and have zero issues crafting for people.

All that aside, it's better to ask for nerfs to things that a lot of us enjoy grinding for? There is very little left in the game to chase after set curation and the already increased drop rates to other plans/furnishings.

We are putting in the effort and the time. I’m not in the process of learning the last few plans that I don’t have and have fully attuned GMC stations so I can pay others to craft for me.

If they find a duplicate and can sell them for a good price, they turn around and buy one of the ones they don’t have for the same price.

That is very much a choice that you're making. There are other options available, but entitlement seems to be the fall back? Unsure.

I think you need to look that word up in the dictionary, it doesn’t mean what you are implying it means.

Also, why do you care if I want plans or not or even have them? It sounds like you are selling them for top dollar and if I won’t pay then I deserve that. Those who are in the housing community are supportive, not condescending.

I have discussed this in a separate post, especially about the Summerset dailies / new High Elf structural furnishings.

I am disappointed to see fellow players who consider grinding a good thing, or very rare drop rates a good thing. I am sure though that very rare drop rates for an item are great for others, and until it happens you actually want such an item, and the only way to get it is farm the said item for weeks or months, instead of doing your favorite game play.

In my post, I said that I don't really mind these drop rates with the condition of having other ways of playing towards the rewards I want. And as I have previously said, we have so many types of currencies already, some of those gathering dust in the bank. I would buy at least some of these plans with AP, seals, archives, vouchers etc, of which I have plenty and use them for nothing.

Also, the I welcome the Tomes and the fact that I can work towards certain rewards, like furnishings or outfit styles. Starting from the tome model, I would like a similar system for crafters - Crafting Tomes. This way I can play the game, get points, and unlock the stuff that eludes me. The rewards can be bound, like the plans. I am fine with that, I want them for my housing crafting, not to sell.

Someone said that it is very easy to make gold in this game. Well, it depends. Some people really struggle to make gold. If it so easy, maybe you can be helpful rather than patronizing, and help with some tips. Housing is very expensive. Players who love housing, like me, have often complained that basic housing, so not talking about luxury, achievement pieces, is to costly and grindy, and discourages casual players to get into housing. Why buy a housing space when it is such a gold sink from the beginning? In these posts, we are talking about building blocks - structural furnishings - like stairs, platforms and columns, not vanity items. These should be very easy to get. The empty planter has been requested countless times (me included) since housing was introduced. It should be very affordable, because it is such a basic thing.

In ESO there is a mess regarding rare/epic/legendary when it comes to housing. The building blocks should be up to rare, and the real epic or luxurious stuff should be purple/gold, and that could be very rare or expensive. As someone has previously said, the new High Elf structural items are part of a set, you don't need just one to upgrade a build. You might need the left side stair, but you got the right sided one, or you need the thin floor, not the thick one, and so on.

I do not think it is fair to make items so rare that they force us to rely on a select lucky few players. Because as we can see, it creates a situation where prices become wildly inflated, pushing out the majority of players who can't afford it. And I emphasise lucky few, because this is all RNG. You can farm daily for years, and still never see these items. And furthermore, this is all within the control of ZOS.

Some rarity is fine, but not to this extent. There needs to be some sort of curation or mercy system for furnishing plans, just like they have for gear, or an overhaul of the drop rates. I love their recent announcement that 2nd and 3rd codices for antiquities will be brought up to the drop rate of the first codex, and I hope they will continue to improve the furnishing system for us.

I do think ZOS should look into expanding the opportunities for a larger group of players to craft their own furnishings. It is a lot of fun, and we know how popular crafting is. It can only be good for the long term health of the game for more players to engage in this overlap between housing and crafting.

I agree. It's time Filer Ool had an assistant to help him sell furnishing plans.

I do want to add though, that I do enjoy farming for plans (exploration AND adventure for fun rewards what's not to like?), but not at the current drop rates. It's fun when you get something while farming, and I don't mind farming for weeks or months - not years.

Since you decorate houses yourself, you know how expensive it is.

Of course, you can buy items from crafters, and they’re cheaper than the blueprints, but that doesn’t change the fact that some players can’t make huge amounts of gold because their playtime is extremely limited.

Why do I want to be able to know the blueprints and craft the items myself? Because housing is my absolute endgame, and I put all my effort and resources into “building from scratch”—which means I don’t just need a few pieces of furniture to place around, but massive amounts of structural furnishings to build entire buildings. And only then does the actual furnishing begin.
Even just crafting all these items myself is expensive due to the extreme cost of materials (massive amounts of Mundane Runes, Heartwood… which also have to be collected first). It’s just as impossible to buy 50 columns, 30 platforms, 50 walls, etc., from guild merchants—especially when it comes to NEW items.

I'm not an endgame housing enthusiast, but the few times I've been in the zone while decorating, being able to run over and make X piece and place it in the perfect place is huge. If I have to stop, find someone who can make that item (which can take days), or leave a gaping hole, it's going to remove a lot of enjoyment from the process.

Please, make structural plans easier to get, and the luxury items, like shiny bottles, or bubbling alchemical alembics, the extremely rare ones.

I've been asking for weighed RNG for antiquity drops for a long time. I would say the same here, but it would have to be a toggle, for those who want duplicates to sell. And I doubt ZoS will do that.

    i agree,
but should note that the bubbling achemy furnishings are Legendary plans from the Master Writ merchant Faustina Curio, from various Furnishing Folios. So just requires a lot of Writ Vouchers.

In a behavioral context, a "sense of entitlement" is the personality trait of believing one inherently deserves privileges, special treatment, or recognition without actually earning or working for them.

Nope. Means exactly what I said.

I care because people are trying to ruin the enjoyment collectors have in the very few chase items left in the game. The farm-able plants and mushrooms have already been bumped up, as well as the Shivering Cheese.

Furnishing leads from maps are no longer a chase since maps are in abundance.

As earlier stated, I eat everything I find, or I give it away to a few close friends that are also collecting everything in the game. Selling is only if I ever need some space, and if I sell, it is most likely less than others' listed. I have gold, I really don't need to gouge for more.

I left the housing community years ago when the majority were demanding that housing be cheaper or that they never have to leave their homes to acquire any plans or furnishings. Entitlement.
