Blackreach is Back. What happened?

So... Blackreach is back. What happened? Just a few weeks ago the ZOS messaging seemed clear, consolidate Cyrodiil around Grey Host and the new permanent Vengeance campaign. Now Blackreach has reappeared, which raises some interesting questions. Did Vengeance fail to attract the population ZOS expected? Is Blackreach being used for Grey Host overflow and queue issues? Before Update 50, a number of players argued that Grey Host, Blackreach, and Vengeance should coexist rather than eliminating Blackreach entirely. If Blackreach is truly returning as a standard Grey Host ruleset campaign, I can't help but wonder whether this is an early sign that player demand for traditional Cyro is stronger than expected (read: Vengeance fail). Curious what everyone else thinks. Do you see Blackreach as a temporary experiment, a Grey Host overflow campaign, or something else entirely?

I can't find the source, but I do recall that ZOS stated they would keep an eye on the campaign populations, queue times, etc. and potentially bring back a secondary non-vengeance campaign.

There's been a lot of threads created about the queue times to get into GH since U50 launched, so it doesn't surprise me that BR is back.

My guess is BR is going to be the default "overflow" campaign for non-vengeance PvPers, at least until the new mid-sized mode ZOS is developing is released, then BR may be disabled again to see if that mode is enough for the GH overflow.

Everybody knew that Vengeance would fail and ZOS clearly communicated that they will closely monitor queues and act accordingly. So it's no surprise that they brought Blackreach back, even tho im positively surprised it was so fast. Well done.

The rebirth of Blackreach is very welcome. Long waiting queue in GH were demotivating the fans of relaxed hop on hop off pvp. Hopefully the meta cheaters will not come to BR. With cheating the exploiting and sharing of builds that are all the same is meant. Some players are really good at doing that stuff and kidnapping others, and by doing so a burden to those who want to play their own game and make progression without putting others under constant stress. Reduce shield stacking and group healing. This would resolve a lot of the current problems. Such a campaign should be swapoed out for vengeance.

Game didnt have enough lag with vengeance campaign witch no one asked for so they added blackreach back.

while blackreach has been back, its still been dead even when GH queues are 40-60+, only seen it at more than 1 bar once

vengeance is kind of understandable it hasnt seen more than 1 bar mostly because the population thresholds per bar are much higher and i dont think theres enough pvp population to heavily populate more than GH (1 bar on veng is equivalent to 3 bars on GH so would have to almost see everyone on GH go to veng for it to guarantee move to 2 bars)

i rather play in vengeance, but can be difficult if your faction is outnumbered there

i came here to wonder if blackreach was bugged on the campaign scoring and will be fixed for july/onwards. i'm not seeing any answer to that.

however, i find vengeance a better option than ravenwatch and icereach. both were low pop and empty as well.

one needed quality of life for vengeance, though, is finding a way to not have to unequip your pve weapons to equip vengeance weapons. i accidentally deconstructed a weapon for pve, whose weapon type i was not using in vengeance, when i left vengeance. there is a solution to lock pve weapons; but, that won't prevent unaware new players from making the same mistake.
