Found a Duplication Glitch

So… I found a duplication glitch on Live and would like to report it yet I can’t find anywhere to upload the video, all reporting in-game will allow is a screenshot.

I would like to get the item out of my inventory but would also like to make sure this bug is reported before it happens again on a larger scale and avoid a future server rollback.

You could make an unlisted YouTube video, but be warned that people have gotten banned for reporting these types of bugs before.

You don't necessarily have to provide a video to report a duplication glitch.

Please just sent a ticket ingame with good enough of a description of the steps you took to duplicate whatever item it happened to. Do not write anything about it here openly on the forums.

Haven’t shared it with anyone. 😂
I don’t hate anyone that much.

Were they abusing the bug like crazy before reporting it?

I made like 10k gold making the video showing how to replicate the bug and haven’t done it since. I’m just trying to help get this patched out, and prevented in the future…

No, the guy I know only demonstrated it for the video. He was an end-game player and didn't want this affecting trials and such. It was a WW damage bug, and in the video he killed the first boss of Spindleclutch in roughly 5 seconds. It was a solo instance too. He sent the video to ZOS detailing the bug and they immediately banned him.

I once stumbled upon a gold dupe glitch. I replicated it once for video documentation, then submitted the Unlisted YT link to that video via PM to a mod here. They acknowledged my submission, and it was eventually patched. No threat of a ban at my end.

So don't speak out is the very obvious message.

And don't be an idiot, in WOW it was some guy who got an weapon from an GM because he did not get it in an dungeon?
Now that is some level of service. But he did not get the dungeon weapon but an instant kill DM weapon. For some reason they was not bound?
Well he did not really need it so he gave it to an friend who then used to clear an newly released raid as the first doing so with an unknown guild and did it very fast, and somehow assumed they would get away with it, they did not group was permabanned.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

Using unintended bugs to gain gold, experience, or items consistently results in permanent account bans or long-term suspensions. By reporting the bug, you are demonstrating to ZOS you did just that.

Should it be that way? Nope. And it's a long running complaint from those of us who report bugs. There are a lot of bugs in this game that go unreported by experienced bug reporters, because we know it risks a ban if ZOS determine we gained something we shouldn't have; and because ZOS don't publicly discuss their thought process there is no way to know if a ban is likely.

This is an old post from Gina on Reddit:

I'd draw your attention to the second paragraph about streaming it. If someone is live streaming or recording and posting later, despite the best of their intentions that can result in a ban. The last paragraph isn't exactly comforting given simply reporting a bug could get your account frozen. The freeze is to check if you gained from exploiting the bug, and ZOS determine what is and is not an exploit. The whole process is far too opaque and strict.

If you're refering to the Martin Fury incident in WoW you're not including a lot of information in there. A player had their account hacked in WoW, and later a GM restored the items, but accidentally included a special GM item called Martin Fury. Which could insta kill any enemies within a certain radius. He couldn't use the item, as it was a certain plate armor his character couldn't wear, so he gave it to his raiding guild leader instead. Both of them, and members of that guild would then use the item openly and defeat multiple high level raids in ridiculous time. Getting achievements and other things they wouldn't have been able to do before. Including the newer raid. (The count is the item was used 14 times across 3 different raids). They say they didn't realize the item was something bad to use... but really... Anyways, they were found out, the leader of the guild with the item was perma banned and the entire guild (regardless if they participated or knew about the item, received a 24 hour ban).

So my advice for finding bugs and glitches is to report the bug to ZOS, but do not submit videos or doing things to actually use the bug to showcase it, YET. Publicly showing a video is just giving out instructions on how to do said bug, even if your intent was just to warn people about it. Even sending the report to ZOS I wouldn't send a video of you doing it. Just wait and see if they ASK for a video. For the original report, just give as much detail on how the bug appeared and how it is consistently replicated. But to cover yourself from being banned for using the bug even after knowing about it, just wait for them to request video proof. Then they are giving you permission to do the bug again to help them. You are safe then. The problem is not finding the bug, accidents happen, it is using the bug afterwards in ANY way.

Why I’m even reporting this is that I’ve seen my fair share of server rollbacks for games over glitches like these that negatively impact EVERYONE.

At present, the glitch is bad, but it’s hard to replicate, it would be incredibly easy to see who abused it because of the specificity of the things involved with it.

That said, should we fear reporting bugs like these? Even if our silence means an even worse iteration of it shows its ugly face later down the road and everyone everywhere end up with a server rollback of days… losing days of progress?

What's worse? Losing an account that one has put thousands of hours into or a server rollback?

Given the clown fiesta that ocurred when people got PTS items to live, it's hard to say how much a big rollback is even feasible.
