Is my necromancer idea gonna be bad?

Hey just a quick question here lol.

I made a new necromancer. Necro is supposed to be a spellcaster, right? So I wear light armor and put points into magicka if I wanna be a damage dealer. But my necro is also a Nord so he's using a big chonky two handed sword and charges into battle.

Bad idea? Does necro ever get any pets like skeletons or bone colossus or something to tank for you? Thanks!

Spell casters also utilise medium armour from the sounds of it medium will be better than light for your build

Also as Denver said you might be better aiming for a stamina Necro.

    Hi!

You don't necessarily have to stick to magicka for your nord necromancer.
All classes have abilities that one would usually define as 'spellcasts', but that separation doesn't come into play in ESO.
You can instead put all the points into stamina if you like. Your abilities also offer different morphs using either stamina or magicka in later stages.

The damage these abilities deal in the end simply scales with your largest ressource pool, not necessarily with the pool it drains from in order to cast the spell. It's something Zos added with the hybridization update.

So feel free to pump all your points into stamina but don't feel forced to only equip spells that use stamina for a ressource.
Even tho you got all your points put into stamina, doesn't mean your magicka pool becomes obsolete. It's more of a sidepool you can use to feed to a minority of magicka based spells you want to use too but don't offer a stamina morph. Like guild abilities for example.

So, just have a look at the majority of skills you're using, check which ressource most of them require to be casted and focus your points there.

Also the necromancer is in queue for an upcoming class refresh. All classes are, we are awaiting the warden's refresh in Q3 this year. The necromancer sadly won't make it to the table this year yet. Dragonknights were first and got their refresh released just recently. - Also, permanent summons have been a highly requested feature by the community in regards of the necromancer class so maybe, if we're lucky, they might come to be with the class refresh/rework.

Everybody please feel free to correct me if I got something wrong, my apartement is still haunted by the aftershock of today's heatwave. This brain has been boiled thoroughly.

Scythe, skull throw, summon skelly and exploding skelly all have stamina morphs. Stam scythe is basically cleave with health steal.

I'd say your brain is working just fine if I do say so myself. It was quite hot today, though.

Thank you for the thorough write up!

I didn't know the damage scaled off of highest resource pool that is nuts to learn. I've been having difficulty on my Imperial DK I think because of this lol. Luckily, an easy fix.
