Is there a reason 3 team BGs are special events?

Just curious. Now that Night Market is gone and the GP only takes about 20 minutes, and no other recent new content or events going on, I am missing the 3 team BGs. Before they changed to 2 teams BGs were something I'd spend a fair bit of time on - but the mismatched 2 team BGs made me abandon them.
Any reason they are reserved for special events and not something we can enjoy? They clearly still exist or can exist since we just played them.
I like the new crate items but I just stand around town at the moment, so the joy at staring at myself idle has passed.

CaiWenji✭✭✭✭I am not sure, but I like 2 teams better myself. I am decent but sort of average some matches. I always just play until I win for the quest and medal. On even teams it's a 50 percent chance of winning, with 3 teams it will be 33 percent. I like better odds especially in the this wolf/dk present day.1 -

✭✭✭Glad you like 2 teams, but I prefer 3 as they are generally more chaotic and at least 2nd place still gets something.
Also if one team goes afk there is still another team left.
2 teams have felt more an overall waste of time if the teams are imbalanced with no real way to impact the match at that point.1 -
CaiWenji✭✭✭✭I've seen some of those matches so I can agree somewhat. I never give up and always play the objective. Unfortunately if the team I am on gives up it's nearly impossible. One time though I bombed 4 people of their team and inspired my team to fight back when it seemed hopeless. We still lossed but it was a lot closer than it could have been.
So, I am not totally opposed to 3 teams and would support an extra option for it or even replace the 4v4 match. I do like the bigger battles though for another reason, and so would still prefer if 2 teams 8v8 stayed at least as one of the options.0 -

✭✭✭I don’t want to remove options from anyone. It just feels bad the BGs I liked were taken away but then dangled back as short term events. I never had to wait long for the 3 team queue so seems to be interest there.
Maybe 4 v 4, 8 v 8, and 4 v 4 v 4 they think isn’t sustainable with our population but I am feeling the loss of fun repeatable activities right now in this lull.Edited by AScarlato on June 20, 2026 5:39AM1 -
