No new ways to get Seals

Ever since they ditched Endeavours, there have been very few ways to earn Seals. The ones for Tome points are the last I can remember, but even that is few and far between. I've been sitting at 15,600 for months now with no way to reach 16,000 in order to get an Apex. These should at least be able to be earned through Pursuits or something.

I know, new crates today and I really regret blowing most my endeavors on the previous options and temporary old crates. Hopefully these new crates stay for awhile and will be here when the next tome drops.

I think we are going to have to better manage our seals if we get them all right away. Mine burned holes in my pockets and I also spent them all and wish I hadn't.

I think we overall get about the same amount of them....but we can get them all pretty quickly and then have a drought before we can get more.

We got the same amount from the Free Tomes as we would have gotten from Endeavors over the same amount of time, in terms of what could be earned in an average month/three month period.

Daily Endeavors ranged from 10 to 20 Seals iirc. Weekly from 150 to 300.

One month's worth of Daily Endeavors at the lowest: 900
One month's worth of Weekly Endeavors at the lowest: 600

One month's worth of Daily Endeavors at the highest: 3.6k
One month's worth of Weekly Endeavors at the highest: 1,200

Three month's worth of Daily Endeavors at the lowest: 2.7k
Three month's worth of Weekly Endeavors at the lowest: 1,800

Three month's worth of Daily Endeavors at the highest: 10.8k
Three months worth of Weekly Endeavors at the highest: 3.6k

Total lowest Seals for 3 months: 4.5k
Total highest Seals for 3 months: 14.4k
Average of the two for 3 months: 9,450

So as long as we keep getting 9k Seals for the Free Tome, that's the same as earning those Seals on a Daily/Weekly basis in that it's the same amount of Seals over the same amount of Time.

But we do tend to get Seals from other things every so often, like from Golden Pursuits sometimes. But it's literally ALWAYS taken at least two or three Crown Crate Seasons for people to get enough Seals for an Apex/Radiant Apex reward, it's nothing new with the system changing from Endeavors to Tomes.

I bought a couple of items from the new crates, but I'm sitting on mine because I'm waiting for a couple of old types of crates to return (looking at you Wraithtide and Xanmeer crates). I agree that we need to be more thoughtful now about spending since there is no way of knowing how many seals the next season will bring.

I was waiting for Frost Atronach Crates to return to get the Spider Mount... These new crates bankrupt me. I have no more Seals nor Gems. Saying goodbye to my icy mount for another 2+ years, but what I got was good.

It's definitely made me more cautious about spending them, and I was pretty selective before. I know if you look at a long enough time period it works out to roughly the same amount, but it's not the steady trickle it used to be, now you get a chunk of them and then wait for permission from ZOS to get more.

I can imagine that's really frustrating if you're like the OP and stuck just below the threshold for a particular item type.

I very rarely like the radiant apex mounts but I'm aiming to hold onto at least 16,000 seals because odds are if I go below that a radiant I actually like will come along and I'll have no way of getting more seals.

Unfortunately I suspect ZOS would say (if they were pushed to comment on it at all) that seals were always supposed to be a secondary option and if you really want something and don't feel like you're getting enough seals the solution is to buy crates. But that's random and the rarer and more popular items have very low drop rates, so while it's a great option for ZOS it's not good for players.

Seals and gems are about the only real way to get apex and radiant apex rewards. Just spent 15k crowns on crates and got junk. I am reminded why I try to ignore items in crates unless I have seals. I do wish we had more ways to earn them.

Season zero ends July 7th I do believe, so we should see season one begin a few days or directly after that. Since the main crates (not the returning ones) usually stay in the store for a few months, they should still be up when the next season starts and you should have time to get the endeavours needed to get the radiant.

That's what I'm doing with next season seals. I only need about 4K for the radiant and I REALLY want that Podomay mount!

Prior to the Tomes, you got ~1350 seals for all 30 daily endeavors and another 800 to 925 for the weeklies. Spread that over three months for apples to apples comparison purposes and you get a bit under 7K seals in three months. I'm ignoring occasional login reward and pursuits, but the last pursuits with seals for a reward was Undaunted Celebration last year. The one in March was to compensate for there not being dailies/weeklies and Season Zero was still a month out.

Now, you buy 8K seals from the current season's Tome (which is about 1K more than what you were getting from dailies and weeklies), but those 8K are all there are until the next Season unless they're included in a pursuit or something. The major "issue" here seems to be that you get them pretty much all at the same time and then drought until the next Tome rather than dribbling in fewer seals on a day/week to day/week basis. You're getting your Apex at roughly the same rate that you were before and perhaps a bit faster since there are more Seals in the Tomes than there were in the Endeavors. I'm failing to see a problem which does not reduce to "can't do math" and perception.
I'm fresh out of outrage, but I could muster up some amused annoyance if required.

I don't doubt the numbers @Arunei posted, but I agree, it sure feels like we're not earning as many.
I happened to have been sitting on them, so I got a lot of what I wanted from the Anu/Padomay crates, but I had the exact same thought about needing to earn more. So, numbers haven't changed, but the feeling certainly has. /shrug

Seeing the numbers comparison I feel a bit better about it. I guess it's just the change in timing of how we get them now that makes it feel off. Hopefully we do get the same allotment for the new tome.

I do wish there was an other way to get them though. Like as a reward for a single activity entry on a pursuit like they've done before with seals or gold mats.

I want that dang chaos steed but I don't want to sink $100+ into the crate gamble 😅

Yeah, it's not that we're getting fewer, we're just getting them in bigger amounts and faster than we did before, so it makes it feel like it's fewer.

It would be nice if we could get them more frequently, but unfortunately they were never really meant to be a reliable way of getting stuff we wanted every time something came up. They got added to circumvent laws (or possible future laws) regarding things that could only be obtained via 'gambling', aka the Crates, and not having an in-game way of earning them. It's why for the most part the only thing you can buy with them are Crate items, with a couple of other things like the Spriggan Polymorph also being available for them.

I feel like it would definitely generate some good faith if they made them more readily available, but since the more we can get the more it lets people avoid buying Crates, we probably won't see many other ways of getting them than what we currently have, that being Tomes for the majority and then the occasional GP awarding them.

That part is a definite point of consideration. Although you're getting seals at a slightly better rate with the Tomes rather than the endeavors, that weeks/months-long drought still leaves the problem of stuff rotating in and out of the Seals store at the same rate as before. I suppose it diminishes the FOMO since you keep the same number of seals for quite a while, it raises a different problem of whether to spend them now or wonder whether something "better" will rotate in before more seals are obtainable. I'm scare-quoting "better" because it's all cosmetic and all that stuff is pretty much functionally equivalent.

We also used to get extra seals quite regularly as part of golden pursuits or as special daily login rewards. I hope that practice continues with the new seasons system, because it definitely feels like earning seals has slowed.
