Filer Ool's weekly inventory

As long as I have been paying attention to the IA vendor's rotating selections, it seems like the only collectible fragments he's had for sale have been for things which drop either in public dungeons (e.g. pieces of the Dwarven Theodolite or the Thrafey Debutante Gown) or in the archive itself (e.g. fragments for the Maligraphic Mount). I hope that some day, the good filer will branch out and sell other types of collectible fragments - namely, the Heavily Played Tribute Cards and Scraps of the Spearhead's Colors that may drop from Tales of Tribute rewards. I played Tribute rather extensively back in the day and have yet to finish either of those achievements. I am sure that there are similar aspects of the game which rely on the whims of RNG for earning collectible fragments which could cycle through the IA as well, but Tribute is the one that comes immediately to mind.

While I am talking about Filer Ool's wares though, can I also request that your team put more thought into the kinds of leads that he has for sale? Don't get me wrong, a lot of them are great - particularly leads for mythics or furnishings which drop rarely. But all too often, one of the two leads that is on the table each week is for something like the Ebon Dwarven Wolf or the Druidic Provisioning Station. The latter in particular is a complete waste because those leads are in guaranteed locations: you can literally look up the furnishing on an online guide and go from point to point in the zone and you will have every single lead. No RNG is involved at all. And in the case of the wolf mount or the Blackwood tapestry, those are collectibles so the leads for them only ever need to be farmed once, ever, per account. I would be much more excited if the IA vendor offered more leads that drop in Cyrodiil or BGs so wimpy players like me would have alternate paths to completing those mythics, etc.

I do think that Filer Ool's inventory should be expanded, or that he should have an assistant like Rolis Hlaalu and Faustina Curio.

Leads: We are getting more and more Mythics and antiquity furnishings, some of them with really terrible RNG rates, so he needs to offer more leads for purchase. I also agree he shouldn't sell leads that have set locations.

Furnishing plans: There are thousands of furnishing plans, and his 3 plans per week needs to be doubled for us to have a chance at collecting all of them.

Both leads vendors seem to only sell mythic fragment leads now, but there are other leads that are difficult to get, or that drop from a specific activity that people might not enjoy doing. For example, there are leads in Cyrodiil that drop from daily coffers. If you don't like going into Cyrodiil, you're out of luck.

All leads used to be the in the rotation, But we, the community, complained about static-location leads being sold. We didn't like it because there was no RNG involved in getting those leads, so given how few leads are sold every week, it was a waste to offer them. Unfortunately, I think we were misunderstood and ZOS removed everything except mythic fragment leads.

Please add all leads to the rotation that involve RNG in any way. Really, the only leads that shouldn't be offered are the static-location leads that you can just pick up off the ground. Also, please expand the number of leads offered so that all leads will show up at least once or twice a year.

Omg I had no idea. So that's why I'd been waiting for the Glyphic Secrets leads and Infinite Tome leads for what seemed like an absolute eternity.

    I totally agree.

@ZOS_Kevin Could the team please fix this so that we can get some of the impossible-to-find antiquities? Some antiquity furnishings have really punishing levels of RNG (like the Infinite Archive or treasure map ones), and our only hope was Filer Ool's weekly offerings.

Just last week was an Ebon Dwarven Wolf lead (one that drops from a delve boss), and a couple weeks before that a Music Box lead.

There have been a few furnishing leads here and there but they seem to be few and far between. It could be due to the regular seasonal increase in the number of Mythics and antiquities, which again would mean that we need an additional lead vendor to keep up with the lead rotations. Much like we need a second DLC pledge giver to support Urgarlag-Chief-bane.

Sorry, should have been clearer. The only leads seem to be fragment leads, and not just specifically mythic fragment leads. Standalone items (like a furnishing that isn't fragmented) no longer seem to be offered.

ETA: Specific examples would be the Prismatic Sunbird Feather, Dutifal Guar, Moons-blessed Ceremonial Pool, Frost Lancer, and many, many more.

I don't think single lead items have ever been available from Filer Ool. That would be abused when everybody could just free farm the lead as often as they wished, and at the very least get a guaranteed instant 3 codex entry completion. IMHO, that would be asking for a bit much.

That's no different from mythics. There are fragments available in trials that I'll never get unless I buy them. Which I have, and I'll eventually have 3/3 for those fragments and mythics. Yes, you have to complete the mythic before you can get leads for it again, but in my experience, I'm usually just waiting on one fragment. When it comes up, I buy it, complete the mythic, and then buy it again during the same week. Less than a year later I'm 3/3. And it's not even required, because once I have 1/3 for the mythic, I can make as many of that item as I like. All someone needs is the first completion and boom, they can make 50 of that mythic if they want. They only need 3/3 if they're interested in completing the codex.

It doesn't work that way for the standalone items. Someone really into housing who wants to buy a furniture item from a vendor has to have 3/3 in the codex first. What if the lead just won't drop for them? What if it drops from an activity they hate? Would it really matter if they could buy the 3 leads from a vendor? No. Not one bit. The game might become more enjoyable for them. That's a win for the game and the player.

Then there are players like me. I have zero interest in PvP, but I'd like to complete the codex. I do enjoy hunting for leads - a lot - but doing things I enjoy. So I'm not going to be buying 3 copies of every standalone lead that comes up because I'd rather hunt them myself, and frankly I don't spend enough time in the IA to earn that amount of fortunes. But there are some standalone leads that I just won't hunt for (PvP-related), or that I've been trying for a long time to get and just won't drop. I don't see the harm in letting me buy the lead. I really don't.

I couldn't agree more about increasing the number of leads available for sale: four leads per week, including the ones from the IC sewer vendor, is not a lot compared to the ever-increasing number of leads out there. Particularly when questionable leads end up in the pool on a given week and the fact that 25k tel var for one lead is almost prohibitively expensive for anyone who isn't a serious PvPer.

I don't have strong feelings on the issue of being able to buy single-lead items. I sort of understand the argument against it, but at the same time, I personally don't think spending tel var or archival fortunes for single-lead antiquities is an abuse because you are simply doing a different kind of grinding to acquire the currency in question. If you love hunting WWBs or ganking players in IC but don't want to pick every plant or loot every urn in S. Elsweyr, is there really anything wrong with completing your codex for the ceremonial pool by instead spending piles of tel var? But like I said, I don't feel strongly about that. Just throwing that out there.

Switching back to collectible fragments for a second, let me add to my wish list the pieces that drop from the Murkmire and Elsweyr repeatable quests after completing their respective prologues. RNG is also not very kind about handing out the components for the Guar Stomp emote and even when you do earn one, it is not as if those fragments are curated. I would love to see the pieces for that and particularly the Swamp Jelly pet come up for sale periodically as I am not sure many folks do those Cyrodilic Collections quests anymore so trading one fragment for another or buying what you need outright from a guild trader isn't always feasible.
