Game / Sever Response Post U50 - PvP Areas

I’ve noticed a significant increase in buffer latency since U.50, namely in the PvP zones of Battlegrounds and the Imperial City (I haven’t tried Cyro yet).

In both cases the game response in insanely bad. The amount of lag in response is far worse than before. In BGs it’s every match, in the IC it’s when you get any sort of population density. Running solo it doesn’t seem to be an issue but once you get even a medium sized group of players the game loses it.

I’m not seeing stutters or skips but a worsening lag in responsiveness; namely a lack of registration or delayed registration.

I’ve tried on both PC NA and XB NA, both of which have issues.

I can’t jump to a conclusion and assume that it’s due to cross play but I’m certainly giving it side eye.

I know most of us have experienced some form of lag in PvP instances for quite some time but this is above and beyond what I’m ever used to seeing out of ESO.

    It's more noticeable than usual in GH on xbox NA too.

    Feels like they are doing this on purpose to get people into Vengeance imo

    You’re probably right, but if that’s the case then someone lost the plot ..

    The Devs drop subclassing and promote that as a way to increase build diversity and flexibility and then turn around and cattle-herd them over into Vengence.

    It wouldn’t surprise me if cross play is the culprit because we’ve seen very similar things happen to other titles. Some games that are more simplistic can get away with that but something like ESO that’s neither new nor was ever optimized for such a thing is questionable.

    Battlegrounds have been very unresponsive this update on Xbox NA whenever your character comes under pressure.

    I've been having similar issues. Not your typical, clearly server-side lag caused by massive population as I've been noticing it outside primetime and within imperial city quite often. Very frequently ability inputs failing to register, or they're registering as you can see the skill icon depress on the action bar and often hear the audio queue of the ability beginning to activate, but then will fail to fire as if the action was nulled somehow.

    Yeah, that’s the same thing I’m seeing. Skills either won’t activate on a target, or, the skill will activate / animate, charge the resource, but fails to deliver any result; as if it went off into the void. Some inputs will process and I’ll see the result about a second or so behind when it should appear.

    It feels like an input buffer is out of sync bigtime.

    It’s just as bad on PC NA for me as it is on XB NA. I just tested on PC and I had skills that I triggered that in half the cases took nearly an additional second to process! That’s insanely bad. Equally I was being harmed by skills that had no animation or delayed animations, making block or counter nearly impossible.

    And just to clarify, I have two ESO accounts, one on XB NA (Series X) and a dedicated PC account via Steam that I test on. My rig is a 16 core machine with 128 GB memory and 2x 16 GB GPUs running the game in full 4k (3840) @ 120 FPS on a gigabit hardwired connection. … basically I’m not testing the game on a potato and if even a machine like this is having severe input delays then there’s a real problem.

    @ZOS_Kevin I don’t normally tag in threads or posts, so apologies, but I wanted to draw specific attention to this because it’s extremely impactful.
