My Cpu has never gotten over 80c, till today hitting 100c with eso. Tabbed our or closing the game drops it back to normal. Anyone else having this issue?
I am dark strife. Khajiit since arena... ya know when they were humans... with face paint... still khajiit only all games...

It could have reset your GameSettings file from whatever you had before.

That would be a pretty straightforward explanation.

AMD CPU 5800XT, it ran a few degrees hotter than normal breaking past 60 degrees, but after about 15 minutes it calmed back down. It does seem that it was related to the update, but I couldn't put my finger on why. Not had it happen again.

    What CPU is it?

Thats because its loading in more stuff for the initial run. Kind of like if you played Marvel Rivals after a patch and the Unreal engine had to pre-compile shaders. Lots of CPU. For your cpu to get that hot though, thats an indication that your cooling is inadequate because even at 100% cpu usage it should be able to handle it. Since its not, you need to check your cooling setup....its definitely not working correctly.

Once you check it, get yourself a tester application like the old Prime95 test and run that while checking temps.

Just to jump back into this thread. Just now:

    Booted up PC
    Logged on to ESO
Jumped to Cyro to check quest boards (I'm missing 5 that I've never done)

At this point the fans on my PC became very audible. A sign the CPU was under load.

    Left Cyro. Fans persisted.
Logged out of ESO. Fans persisted.
Checked Task Manager. Showed <10% usage of CPU
Checked CPU temperatures. Values indicated CPU was under load (or fans were not working - except they were I could hear them).
Restarted Windows. Fans increased when login screen appeared. (They should have decreased as fan software kicked in).
Logged back into windows, was met with a grey screen.
Brought up Task Manager and logged out.

Did a shutdown which was measured in minutes not seconds.
    Booted up PC.
    All is as normal now.

I checked for other processes, and the Windows logs. There is nothing I can see that would explain this. The only common factor between this and my CPU load massively increasing before is ESO. When I logged in after the update, and now being the first time since the update I have gone to Cyro.

Just to note: Even under extreme game conditions, due to the cooling I have I barely hear my fans as the CPU stays sub 60 degrees.
