So I took a break from ESO and just came back. Was curious to see what balances/changes/updates were made to ToT.

My general findings? None. It's a time capsule indistinguishable from when I left, except there's even fewer people playing it. None of the RNG spam decks have been nerfed. No new decks have been added. The game still heavily favors and rewards RNG spammers, so the "usual suspects" that prefer RNG spam decks/combos like mora + red eagle, druid + psijic, crow, etc are still playing... but mostly with just themselves. I caught the last day or 2 of the last season and only 600 people were in ranked competitive for the entire season.

All the players that preferred the skill/strategy focused combo of decks that I enjoyed my games with have mostly moved on, almost certainly tired of the "gambling addicts" making every game a race to see who gets the best rng and end the game in 3 minutes before it can be an interesting battle of skills. Also the new players seem equally turned off by the RNG spam after a quick read of the forums, frustrated and vocal about how upset they are that luck is the prevailing factor.

I'm guessing the devs just totally gave up on ToT since it is just as imbalanced as when I left and it has no new content. It's a shame. It has all the foundation of a really fun card game, but just like most of the content, they listened to the loud/vocal casual players over the skilled/dedicated players, focused on a system that could allow casuals to "get lucky," and drove away anyone serious. This is exactly what happened to Adventure Zones, trials, and PVP. The casuals still don't do any of that content and the end gamers got bored and left. Oh well.

Have to agree with you, the types who play the rng are always on top and the randomness of the points awarded.
I love playing it like you say against players who want to play the game.

The Devs dont give a Sh.. about it.

The devs still can't fix patron spam decks (Rajhin and Alessia) and that means they don't care much. As for diminishing population it's hard to tell how to solve this issue. There was a proposal about adding ToT currency and shop but I have a great doubt it will ever be done.

Yea, there haven't been badly needed balance changes to clown fiesta game pieces in over 2 years. The population is pretty constant. It being 600 to 700 in rubedite now is likely due to waning interest in the game overall.
    Rest in Peace:
    The Dragonknight
    2014-2025

This commemoration is for the class that has constantly been plundered and dismantled by designers for no obvious reason while other classes continue to have coherent skill lines and feel both powerful and cool.
