Too many tomb points, now what? We need repeatable purchase options.

its still not 100% clear what happens to your tome pts though if you buy the tome, do those still reset since your tome is available forever?

It is 100% clear since they’ve confirmed it in several places, it’s how most other Season Pass systems in other games work, and we saw it on PTS.

Tome Points are not locked to any specific Tome. They will reset every Season, allowing only a max of 2000 to carry over and converting excess to gold (after autobuying some unpurchased things).

Once the next season is active, players can either spend their points on the current Tome, or they can reopen old purchased Tomes and spend the currency there instead.

and thats even worse way to deal with it because then you will always always always be severely lacking tome points

We're just shy of the halfway mark for the season, and already posts are cropping up discussing the desire/need for more items in which to spend tome points. This thread included. There will be plenty to spend.

well theres 2 problems i have with it:
    1. you finish the tome, didnt have much interest in a lot of the rewards, but are forced the rewards anyway at the end of the season due to the autobuyer
    2. you finish the season and buy everything, you bought the tome so even though you have the tome and wanted to buy everything, there is not enough tome pts to buy everything

my situation with the current tome is i finished the tome and have over 10,000 tome pts that are gonna be wasted (and no i dont think it converting to gold is an acceptable reward either, i would rather take almost any other currency besides gold), i also did not buy the tome because it did not have anything that interested me in the premium track

As a necromancer player, Having tons of tomb points are awesome! Wonder if they have some crypt points as well... In all seriousness, the points get converted to gold at the end, so having excess isn't a bad thing.

Except they're only giving 10 gold/tome point. So if you have 10,000 leftover tome points, you'll get a whopping 100k gold. In no world does that level of reward justify the time put in to get the points.

I'd be ok if instead of 10 gold/tome point they gave 10 IA currency/point. Then I could get something out of IA.

I'd love to have repeatable rewards. Any sort of currency would be great; gold, transmutes, AP, tel var, trade bars, IA fortunes, seals, anything. Tri-pots would be useful too.

It has generally been my experience that those who yell the loudest that they will not pay for something are also those who are least likely to pay in the first place. But if the expiring Tome Points (which have been known for months, btw) and the (gasp!) Night Market grouping (gonna go wash out my mouth with soap, I guess) are deal breakers, there is that big ol' "uninstall" button. I've used it many times in the past, will probably use it many times in the future, and it ain't no big deal. I've got a pretty solid rule that I don't play games which I don't enjoy playing. Maybe try that?

A couple of incidental thoughts, however. First, I do agree that the free tier numbers need work. The amount of points required to unlock the bonus pages should not be higher than the cost to buy everything on the free tier, plus 2000. Keeping the page unlock costs at even thousands doesn't bother me, though. At the moment, it takes 2K to 3K more points to unlock than there is free tier stuff to buy (plus 2000). Problematic design decision, and I'm of mixed mind on getting 200-300 gold for those excess points at the start of the next season. It's better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick, but it's also a bit of slap in the face to free tier players. Premium tier? You pays your money and you takes your chances, but opening your wallet was your choice.

As far as the grouping goes (and speaking as an almost exclusively solo player), it's not required. I generally spend more time rezzing than fighting when going solo in Night Market, but it's possible to go solo. Some of the faction dailies can't be solo'd (Argents and Skirmishes, definitely) and Blood on the Sands costs more for gear repairs that what I get in the reward coffers, but district dailies and some faction dailies can be done solo if you're careful (and don't mind getting one- or two-shotted from time to time).
I'm fresh out of outrage, but I could muster up some amused annoyance if required.

Repeatable options or varied currencies would certainly be a great addition to future tomes even if they capped it of max x2 or x5 for any particular item to keep things in check. My guess is this would only apply on the paid premium tier items, but you never know.

Ultimately if you're on the free tier enjoy what you get out of it as it cost you nothing and it gives the company nothing.

I am on the paid premium tier, some things I was interested in and I am in position to support the game. I think things are working perfectly. I am getting enough points to buy everything on the premium tier I want as well as the things I don't (looking at you transmute crystals) and will have my 2000 points + left over for the next one. All while just doing mostly what I do anyways. There have been a few activities that I went out of my way for that I may not in the future depending on what my actual point totals look like at the end of season.

In addition, I have Tome caches that I don't currently need to use which will allow be to grab most of a future tome even if my play time is drastically limited for a long period of time for whatever reason.

It amazes me how the point of this system has been so universally missed. The tamriel tome system was a response to the critique that the old dailies system was too constraining and unforgiving for casual play. This current tome system is designed that even if someone starts 70 days late, they can still fulfill enough points to unlock everything. It is not designed for hardcore players to minmax grind out. The excess points you accumulate will be converted into free gold next cycle, speedrunning the rewards means we can just rack-up some throwaway spending gold.

I didn't buy anything special for additional tome points, but applied the one or two caches I had. Now that I have unlocked the 10 pages, I still have over 3,000 tome points.

Suggestion: Instead of saying 'You need xyz additional tome points to unlock the next page.' Just have a set amount needed to unlock a page.

For example, if I currently have 2100 tome points, and it takes 2150 tome points to unlock the next page, just make it so I only need an additional 50 tome points.

Alternatively, since this system was 'borrowed' from Fallout, why don't you employ their method: buy additional amounts of items with the extra or left over tome points? I mean, those developers already went through this, figured out a solution and applied it.

I'm enjoying the game much more, now that I've finished the tome and can ignore my chores for the rest of the quarter.

Repeatable purchases are okay, as long as they're the old daily reward junk. Potions, buff food, xp scrolls, repair kits etc. are fine, just don't add furniture or useful currency, and I won't feel like I'm missing out when I spend my time in the game doing stuff I actually want to do.

Furnishings are really the only thing I am interested in with regards to the rewards. Here they are being treated like mounts, where you can only buy one. It makes sense for a mount or style page because you can only use one. When I decorate a house I don’t just put one lantern in it, or whatever, I need lots of them. We should definitely be able to buy more than one.

I would argue currency should be able to be purchased more than once too. If players earn enough points to do so then it is entirely fair. If you choose not to earn them and do something else, then that is a choice.

This coming from someone who doesn’t really grind much for these things but earned enough points anyway to finish the time without any of those caches.

True, that. I'd much rather pay 150 Tome Points for that big High Isle bookcase (page 3) than the 200 crowns it costs through the Housing Editor.

It is craftable isn’t it? You could also probably buy one from a guild trader or ask a crafter in your guild to make one if you supply the mats.

Save the housing editor for stuff you can’t find elsewhere.
