Severe Audio Lag

I can't believe there's not a thread on the audio lag this game has developed recently. Severe audio lag, the usual skill lag but far worse, and lag in porting which I don't ever remember experiencing. Is this because of this "back end" work being done for cross platform play? Zos, what's going on?

I want to ad that Grave Gaming has a video about this so I know it's not just me. And I also want to ad please refrain from chiming in with a link to Zos suggestions to fix this, it's not on my end. None of those fixes and many others not mentioned work. Zos, it's you.

There was another topic about this somewhere as I posted in it about the same thing. Got buried somewhere, I think!

I've been having this issue since the start of the Night Market, and I'm pretty sure it's linked to that somehow. I also get some lag in visuals too. Dialogue has a delay and then doesn't match the mouth movement of characters I'm talking to. In a fight, quite often the sounds all kick in at once after it's over, with a huge cacophony of noise!

It's not ping related. My ping is often rock steady while this is happening. This is on PC EU.

It's been happening to me a lot lately. But I didn't bother making a post about it because it's historically a common problem. ZOS already knows about it. It mostly happens during big fights, but not always.

I'm PC NA.

I’m talking about pve where it’s not historically a major problem. Now, since NM, it is a MAJOR problem.

I’ve never experienced audio lag like this ever, or skill lag this bad. And I’ve never had laggy, delayed porting. This is NOT the same old problem.

Does Zos know? I haven’t seen any indication of that in this forum.

i can't speak for PvP, but even when I am just solo questing, this happens all the time. Worse if I'm doing Night Market or trials.

Yes, for weeks now, the skill sounds play later or not at all. There are short spans of time when there's no sound at all. I just keep pushing the buttons. 🙉

Thanks for the link. I see it was promptly "buried" in the tech support section. The kiss of death. This is not a "maybe it's just me" issue, it's widespread.

It's not a "follow this link and try these steps" issue. It's not a client issue.

I'm also experiencing this sound lag, most often with DK Wings. It started somewhere between the launch of the NM and the last maintenance. I hoped that maintenance would fix it, but it didn't, and now also, since a couple of days, the recall animation randomly stops happening. The first time it happened, I was so puzzled that I just stared at my toon standing there doing nothing, and after a few seconds I got a loading screen, then my toon appeared at the location I wanted it to be. It works a bit like the forums' edit button: invisible, but still functional.

The recall animation lag happened the same way for me. There I am just staring at my char with nothing happening. At first I thought I didn’t hit the button. Then the port suddenly happens.

Been experiencing audio lag as well, PC NA. Usually in group dungeons or trials.

Really? You don’t think I disabled everything as a first step in troubleshooting? Do you work for Zos? Come on man!

Well something is causing it for some, but not for others, so it doesn't appear to be a server issue.

Sounds super delayed or not playing at all. Animations not showing. For example the teleport animation. Mounting up gives mount up animation, but no mount and my character runs in mount speed for several seconds before the mount shows up.

Only with one and the same character. Tested with and without addons. All the same settings as all other 19 characters.

I’ll just quote what I said in the previous topic about this. 19 characters have almost no problems at all. But my main character is almost unplayable. Mega lags all the time. Most of them use the same addons.

Adding my voice to this. It's a recent phenomenon and seems to happen more on PC NA than EU, though present on both. I'm playing on a few accounts and it happens on one but not the next one, same activities, same time of day more or less. Same set of addons on each. Not consistently one account or another. Bad in Night Market, but also present doing daily crafting writs or just pottering around in overland.

I'm having this problem right now. I wasn't lagging until I had died in the Timeless Wallow. Been lagging and having this audio lag ever since.

Interesting that you can trace it to a specific activity, the Timeless Wallow.

Has anyone encountered a bug where, after using a wayshrine to tp outside a house, the map remains after the loading screen? Pressing M adds the proper map menu, and pressing it again removes the menu, but the map itself remains. I didn't try to reload the UI, I just restarted the game and it's ok now, but that's a first for me.

It's always specifically Timeless Wallow for me, every time I go for the Festering Timelines achievement after one pull, I get laggy. I'm fine up until that point. Maybe related that I'm also trying to record it, but I have heard others mention lagging and desyncs during Festering Timelines pulls too.

I've spent nearly 3 weeks locked in this dungeon to get this achievement, and I experienced the same lag as you describe. It is most blatant when dying, as it takes 2 or 3 seconds to drop dead. I don't ever record. I recall having similar issues in Gossamer Crypt when the team would wipe on purpose to get the achievement in one try.
