Low population bonus in pvp

Why is this a thing?
Why is a faction rewarded for not playing?

Last 2 nights in GH on PSEU, DC have the low pop bonus and they were actually outscoring the factions that were actually on and playing the game, sometimes by over a hundred points.

Even when AD had one of their scrolls, 2 of their home keeps (plus own scrolls, 1 red scroll & 8 keeps), DC were scoring higher due to low pop bonus.

In a close fought campaign (as this one is) this makes a difference.

I understand it is trying to make things ‘fair’ but it is not. Frankly, it is ridiculous that you get extra points for not playing.

It really should be switched: Low pop bonus is for stats, more map control is for score.

Low pop bonus is trying to incentivize people to play, even when they are outnumbered. The idea is that even though they're outnumbered X-1, they remain in the game so the map is not entirely PVE.

I agree, its a dumb bonus because only hardened PVP players will stay and fight when that outnumbered, and hardened PVP players have more AP than they know what to do with.

I've been saying for years that they need buffs and debuffs that scale with the population, so that when Red has a 2 bar advantage vs. the other factions, their defense and offense is actually debuffed when engaging one of the other factions over which they have a significant numbers advantage, and the outnumbered faction has offensive and defensive buffs that scale up to make things a more even fight between the factions. This would also drastically reduce the incentive to simply call in more numbers to overwhelm your opponent with sheer numbers.

    Happened again this evening.

DC getting over 2 x the score for a “low pop” yet quite a lot on.

    It is just ridiculous.

The only other viable alternative is to have people assigned to Alliances by the system at entry based upon the current conditions of Cyrodiil. And to eliminate Alliance switching by account. I dont think they'll ever do this and I think its always going to be a problem for Cyrodiil. Any time people aren't winning, they switch. I see it almost every time Im in Cyrodiil

But you can’t switch alliance in GH.

the low pop bonus itself is still janky, the server checks are so delayed on when low pop should be added and removed, a faction could be at 3 bars for over an hour before the low pop actually goes away

from what ive seen it typically lags by about 1-2 hours of what is actually going on in game
    plays PC/NA
