I have been looking for the “deadly concoctions” for the Fatal Flask quest for an HOUR. They are nowhere to be found. The fact that all of these quest items only show up when you are right on top of them, in a zone where mobs can absolutely wreck you, is super frustrating. You run around trying to avoid the mobs just to complete a fetch quest with a trash reward.

I can confirm that this quest, the "Fatal Flask" in the Parch, Night Market, is bugged. I spent more than 1 hour in the western side of the Parch trying to locate the first flask, to no avail. I then decided to move to the eastern side, and found a flask very easily, I was immediately spotted by enemies though, who killed me. When I spawned back at the top of the roof, the quest had been automatically updated as "completed", thus giving me the missing achievement.
To clarify: the potion in the western part of the Parch was nowhere to be found, and of the 2 other ones in the eastern side of the Parch, it was enough for me to find only one for the quest to be marked as completed.
    Clearly bugged.
You only need ONE flask, not 3. There are just three areas to find it.
And sometimes only one seems to be there at all.

Thank you for the info. I have updated my map with this new spot (maps not yet uploaded to the main thread).

I wish to clarify that for the Patch District Quest “Fatal Flask”, the player only needs to find ONE flask to complete the quest.

The ONE flask is in any of 3 possible find areas (3 big circles).
In each of the 3 possible find areas, there are 2 possible find spots, making a total of 6 possible Find spots (of which you only need to find ONE, and only ONE will spawn in the instance).

6 possible Find spots. Only 1 will spawn. 5 will be empty. Only 1 is needed.

This is one of the reasons I'm done with the night market. I already got the house, the GP and the 10k favor. All that's left is some meaningless achievements.

There is a reason that it's already getting difficult to form groups for NM content. The event isn't even half over.

    There's only one flask.

Unlike the other ones, it only spawns the item in one of the three locations (the quest dialogue says something to the effect of "I left it in this area, this area, or this area"). Once you get it, you're done.

You just need to look for which of the three is there. It has a few different places it can spawn, so it's not always going to be in the same area.

Yeah, the Fatal Flask can be difficult to find. Each time I find it in a new location, I mentally add that location to the places that I need to check. I know there are maps online which show all of the possible locations, but I try not to rely upon online maps, guides, and walkthroughs except as an absolute last resort. The other night I found it in a place I don't think I'd ever seen it-- just west of the southern rooftop oasis, in the stall with a trash mob next to it. I think I've seen it in at least 5 different spots now, and I check each one until I find it. I try to grab all 5 quests at once, if I can find them, so I can try to complete them more efficiently all at the same time, otherwise I just end up running back and forth to the same areas.

The reward for these is not worth the effort. Will stop once I have the achievement

I tend to be of the "gotta get them all" camp but I am not even bothering to try. Dying repeatedly is already not interesting. Doing so to try and find something quite hidden makes it even worse.

It might be more acceptable if the zones were full of people, but the population caps in each means seeing someone outside your own group is highly unlikely. And finding a group now is hard enough. Looking around while the group is chasing a goal seems to be letting the group down.

Which I would argue is very poor design, especially in an area most of us cannot survive solo. I think I found it at least once, but it took a lot of playtime and did not make me all that satisfied when I finally finished it.

If you use the Elm's Markers or More Markers addon then I've added markers on all quest/objectives spawn points, a white arrow pointing above them. Here's the string, just import it into your addon settings:

Would it be worth noting that a game feature which requires going outside the game (an addon) to fix or mitigate is a broken feature, or at least one which was poorly designed? There are personal taste issues ("But I think purple looks so much cooler than the default blue") which are fine, but if the basic function of an addon is to ameliorate a pain point, then that's something which needs developer attention.
I'm fresh out of outrage, but I could muster up some amused annoyance if required.

It seems to me that at least some of the quest item markers have been showing up from farther away for a week or more now, or maybe the markers for those quest items have just always had a larger radius of visibility than the other ones.

Certain quest items don't become visible until you're almost right on top of them-- for instance, the missing people, as well as the propaganda-- but other quest items, such as the ones for adding to the collections, show up from further away. That might be due to the fact that some (like the collection items) are always found in the same locations each day, whereas others (like the fatal flask, missing people, or propaganda) have multiple locations where they can spawn.

It seems like the latter type don't even spawn until you get right on top of them, so you must get almost right on top of each potential spawn location for the game to finally spawn that item and show its quest marker. But the former type are spawned even if you haven't passed by their locations, since they're always in the same places every day.

The "sweet spot" for the journal entries and sketchbooks, is also very slim in my experience.

one of the propaganda sheets is on the left rockwall of the abyss beyond which we find gossamer crypt.
missing person quadb can be very tedious to find as well.
these quests are generally only bearable with shadow cloak on a fast character.
then they give quite a bit of favor quite fast.

every time i find a mission giver i use custom map pins to map it.
every time i find a find mission item pick up, i custom map pin it.

    on EU and NA

i understand how to play. i understand items location can be different in the highlighted areas of a mission.

but then there is that weird.... scrub an area for 2 hours, to never find the item, but the day before, that same mission took 1 mins and no deaths. i have to wonder are some mission drops not rezzing / appearing correctly?

    is anyone noticing this?:
(1.) (rarely) are some mission items not rezzing / not appearing at all, not just harder to find.

(2.) has eso made some bosses and foes have more stealth / invisibility detection in night market? just in the last week? (more so in Skittering Precinct and Sorrow's Friend )
